Glorious Failure are a punishing-pop-punk band from the West of Scotland. Combining elements of pop-punk, skatepunk, metal and hardcore together alongside a ridiculous tempo, Glorious Failure have become the band you didn't know you needed in your life. The debut album HELPLESSNESS released August 2024 showcases the sonic evolution of the band as they stray away from their pop-punk beginnings for heavier, faster pastures.

HELLO! A quiet summer from STR, but we are delighted to kick off the new (academic) year with a special Freshers Takeover Open Mic Night at Harleys Ayr this Thursday. The new wave of HNC Music students will be running the event, 7pm - 10pm. Free Entry and our usual acoustic vibe of Guitar, Bass, Keys, Cajon will be available should you fancy performing a couple of songs.

As the academic year is finishing up, it's always a busy time for Sun Turtle Records running events. Three amazing nights of live music coming your way in the next couple of weeks.

Wednesday 15th May
Access to HNC Music Assessment Gig: Free Entry at Venue38 for your chance to see some of Ayrshire's young up and coming musicians perform a set of hits for their final assessment gig of the academic year.

Thursday 23rd May
Our HNC Music students final Open Mic night of the academic year at Harleys Ayr where they have been working in small groups planning and running the nights. Bring your acoustic guitar and play a couple of songs

Friday 24th May

It's a busy couple of weeks for STR. Join us this Wednesday and Thursday 12pm - 2pm on our Ayrshire College, Ayr Campus for Scran Fest II and then on the 25th of April we take over the stage at Harleys Ayr for our monthly Open Mic Night 7pm - 10pm.

SCRANFEST II
ScranFest II is a live music event being performed by the college students from the music department, ScranFest II will last 2 hours with no price cost. This event is organised by the sound production department. Bring along your friends/family/classmates to a fun show from college artists and grab a bite to eat to enjoy it even more!!

Open Mic Night - 25th April

Ayrshire College students return for another night of acoustic music, for their second Open Mic Night of 2024.

The students currently studying HNC Music at Ayrshire College have been tuning strings and strumming guitars in anticipation of their next monthly Open Mic Night which takes place at Harley’s, Ayr on Thursday 25th April 2024. The night will consist of a lineup of musicians keen to show off their talents, with notable performances from Eleanor Gunson and Nathan Harkins and open to the public to perform too. The night will run from 7pm to 10pm and is completely organized by the students as part of their Work Placement Unit working as part of Sun Turtle Records Events Team, from the preparation to the running of the event on the night. The event is completely free, and anyone can come along to play or enjoy the entertainment.

What a night on Saturday at Venue38 for Nathan McDermott's EP Launch. Over 100 people in the venue supporting grassroots music.

Opening the night were The Reveries, a group of young music students who played only their 2nd gig. Anna, Samuel, Brodie, Valerie and Kieran smashed it and we look forward to seeing them in action again.

Not only is tomorrow night a headline show for Nathan McDermott ... We can now reveal that the following Friday, 5th April will be the release date for his debut EP, 'Too Far Gone', which features four recent live session recordings. Gig goers tomorrow night have access to limited edition special run of physical CD's and Cassettes.

Door entry (for those not purchased ticket in advance) and merch is cash only. The bar is cash and card tomorrow.

Sun Turtle Records are back at Harleys Ayr hosting our famous (reasonably well attended) monthly Open Mic Night starting next Thursday, 14th March 2024.

Come along and geez a song! Guitar, Bass, Cajon, Keys, PA System all provided.

The next three months sees Ayrshire College HNC Music Students fulfill their Work Placement Unit by planning, marketing and running the open mics.
