Fiji has told Human Rights Council that it is an independent mechanism to appoint the Commissioners for the Fiji Human Rights and Anti Discrimination Commission is missing in Fiji as these appointments are imbedded in the Constitution. Attorney General acknowledged Fiji has a B rating in Human Rights while appearing at the Universal Periodic Review in Geneva last night Fiji time.

Construction Energy and Timber Workers Union of Fiji (CETWUF) National Secretary John Paul met with Aspen Medical Ba Hospital union members to discuss the ongoing standoff between the hospital and more than 200 workers in the Ba and Lautoka Hospitals. Aspen Medical maintains the issue is in Governments hands. The union has said its members will go on strike at 7am on Thursday February 6, 2025.
