Ambassador & Director General for Asia and the Pacific, H.E Mrs. , German Ambassador to Fiji, H.E Dr. visit to the Fiji Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the 25 March 2024. The delegation was received by the Permanent Secretrary of Foreign Affairs Dr. .
 With the establishment of the Pacific and embassy, has shown its commitment to Fiji and is part of their policy to combat climate change; an issue that the country wishes to work with Fiji on how to best to combat it.

DELEGATION EXPLORES COOPERATION WITH
A delegation from the (NDC) is currently in the country to explore opportunities for cooperation with Fiji. The NDC’s first visit was in 2014.
During their visit to the Fiji Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the delegation met with the Permanent Secretary Foreign Affairs, Dr .
The NDC approached their visit from the premise that as a small developing island state ‘what makes Fiji what it is today?’ The discussion acknowledged Nigeria’s interest to learning from Fiji’s best practices and at the same time exploring potential areas of cooperation in all sectors and through global platforms such as the , hashtag , the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States ( ).

Representing the Nigerian delegation, Air Commodore said they look forward to incorporating Fiji’s best practices and are grateful for the insightful discussions they have had with agencies in Fiji.
The delegation returns to Nigeria, later this week.

INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION ( ) AGENCY REAFFIRMS ENHANCED SUPPORT FOR The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) has today (26.4.24) renewed its commitment and support for the Government of Fiji led programs that contribute to the achievement of Fiji’s development priorities.
This was conveyed during an introductory call to the Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs Dr by the new KOICA Country Director for Fiji and Pacific, Ms. .
PS Korovavala welcomed Ms Cho and conveyed the Government of Fiji’s best wishes as she commences her work in Fiji.
He acknowledged KOICA’s support over the years through projects aimed at improving the livelihood of communities that ultimately contribute to Fiji’s development goals.
Further, PS Korovavala said the elevated cooperation with the Republic of Korea, supports Fiji’s status as the regional hub and prospects for economic cooperation, trade and investment, air connectivity, and infrastructure development.
In her remarks, Ms. Cho said that Republic of Korea would like the Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. to visit their country.
Ms. Cho reaffirmed KOICA’s commitment to work closely with the Government of Fiji in promoting the socio-economic development at the community level through individual and organisational capacity development.

REGIONAL DIRECTOR FOR VISITS FIJI
France has reasserted its commitment to advance cooperation and support to Fiji’s development priorities in promoting investment and trade, climate change, emergency response and disaster resilience, defence and security, and people-to-people engagements.
This has been affirmed through the visit of the French Regional Director for Indo- Pacific, Mr .
The Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Dr met with Mr. Pimond, the French Embassy and representatives of the French Embassy in that are responsible for Fiji and the Pacific islands to discuss prospects for strengthening cooperation.
PS Korovavala thanked the delegation for the meaningful discussions that outlined the prospects for opportunities to advance security cooperation and socioeconomic development.
He acknowledged France’s renewed commitment to expand cooperation with the Pacific region, primarily through the ’s ( ) Indo-Pacific Strategy.
PS Korovavala said the Ministry will work closely with the French Embassy to further strengthen the Fiji-France relations, shared interests and commitment to promote peace and security, and prosperity.
Mr Pimond reaffirmed France’s commitment to deepen partnership with Fiji, saying his visit has been an opportunity to see how best they can support Fiji’s development priorities and further strengthen regional cooperation.


DIRECTEUR RÉGIONAL POUR L' VISITE FIDJI
La France a réaffirmé son engagement à faire progresser la coopération et à soutenir les priorités de développement des Fidji en matière de promotion des investissements et du commerce, du changement climatique, des réponses d’urgence et de la résilience aux catastrophes, de la défense et de la sécurité, ainsi que des engagements entre les peuples.
Cela a été confirmé à travers la visite du directeur régional français pour l'Indo-Pacifique, M. .
Le secrétaire permanent aux Affaires étrangères, Dr a rencontré M. Pimond, l'ambassade de France et les représentants de l'ambassade de France à en charge des Fidji et des îles du Pacifique pour discuter des perspectives de renforcement de la coopération.
Le PS Korovavala a remercié la délégation pour les discussions significatives qui ont décrit les perspectives d'opportunités pour faire progresser la coopération en matière de sécurité et le développement socio-économique.
Il a reconnu l’engagement renouvelé de la France à élargir la coopération avec la région du Pacifique, principalement à travers la stratégie indo-pacifique de l’ européenne ( ).
Le PS Korovavala a déclaré que le ministère travaillerait en étroite collaboration avec l'ambassade de France pour renforcer davantage les relations entre Fidji et la France, les intérêts communs et l'engagement à promouvoir la paix, la sécurité et la prospérité.
M. Pimond a réaffirmé l’engagement de la France à approfondir le partenariat avec les Fidji, affirmant que sa visite a été l’occasion de voir comment ils peuvent au mieux soutenir les priorités de développement des Fidji et renforcer davantage la coopération régionale.

UNDERTAKES FIRST NATIONAL CONSULTATION ON KEY REGIONAL INITIATIVES FOR 2024
The ( ) in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs convened National Consultations for Fiji on the key regional initiatives for 2024.
The first of such consultation was presided by the Acting Secretary General of the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat (PIFS) Mr and Fiji’s Roving Ambassador, H.E Mr . It was held today (25.4.2024) at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs HQ in Suva.
Discussions considered Fiji's perspective and experiences in the context of the key regional initiatives for 2024 and took into account updates on the national priorities to better inform the alignment of the 2050 Strategy for the ( ). The outcomes of today’s deliberations will inform a cohesive implementation of the 2050 Strategy.
The initiative demonstrates Fiji’s commitment and solidarity with Forum members in building a more resilient, prosperous and peaceful Pacific Region.
In his opening address, Acting SG Nayasi acknowledged the Fiji Government as the host country of the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat and reaffirmed the value and historical linkages of Fiji and the organisation. ASG Nayasi underlined the value of Pacific Regionalism and collective action and advocacy to inform and drive regional priorities.
In his remarks, Mr Toganivalu thanked PIFS for the commitment to foster unity, solidarity and progress among Forum member states.
He spoke of the importance of national consultations to shape a sustainable future of the region and to make positive impacts on the lives and livelihood of the Pacific Family.
Mr Toganivalu said it is incumbent upon the Forum members to ensure that this crucial process is guided by the principles of equity, inclusivity and sustainability.
The consultations focused on raising awareness and appreciation for Pacific Regionalism and PIFS role, to ensure that regional mechanisms align and support the national development priorities, address challenges and promote opportunities for deeper regional engagements.
The 2050 Strategy was endorsed by the Pacific Islands Forum Leaders in 2022 guiding regionalism in the Pacific, and its Implementation Plan (2050 Strategy Implementation Plan) was endorsed also by the Leaders in 2023 in Cook Islands.
