Minimalism in the ceiling interior

We have analyzed and determined current European interior trends. The leading tendency is minimalism. Minimalism in everything. Steer clear of excess: masking tape along the perimeter, glaze coat, photoprint and the like.

To perform a minimalist design has turned out to be the most difficult thing from a technical perspective: thin built-in track-systems, frameless luminaries, lack of masking tape, which is not easy and requires training and certain skills. However, the method itself is equally profitable and promising.

A modern ceiling is simple from a visual perspective. It is white, matte and has some dark contrast lines serving a targeted technical goal.

Following modern trends makes the market dive into a new dimension called “engineering solutions”, not just “ceilings”.

1. SLOTT R — a universal separator profile used to connect surfaces.
It is applicable to the following cases:
- you need extra support of the canvas to minimize sagging
- the room area is too large to mount a single canvas
- it is necessary to connect canvases of different fabrics, colors and so on

Today, we are discussing solutions for recesses and tray ceilings.

A tray ceiling is a solution that is performed using a combination of constructional profiles Slott 40, 60, 80 and EuroSlott or EuroKraab. These profile systems enable you to avoid bubbles and folds during installation and create an even shape with sharp corners. Such a ceiling design allows the room to be zoned or, conversely, allows to combine different functional areas.

Slott 40, 60, 80 + EuroKraab (harpoon mount system) or Slott 40, 60, 80 + EuroSlott (damper system).

What you should know about drywall interior solutions.

Drywall is often preferred in construction and finishing. This material has its benefits and drawbacks.

Benefits:

- easy to mount
- the surface is always even
- eco-friendly and durable
- used for tray ceilings, different constructions, arches and so on.

The material is not free from drawbacks: cracks appear over the time; it takes minimum 5 cm off the height of the ceiling; extra coating of the ceiling takes additional time.

Damper units for drywall systems designed and patented by KRAAB SYSTEMS allow to prevent possible damage of drywall sheets (DS) that occur when they are rigidly attached to the surface. The damper system in the solution cushions adverse impacts on the structure, prevents cracks in the drywall and plaster, and provides increased stability to loads arising during operation.

Floating ceiling in drywall ceiling

The effect of a ceiling «soaring in the air» is created by LED strip light, installed along the profile perimeter and fastening with an indent from the ceiling. The indentation from the wall is adjustable and can be of any distance from 2.5 cm.

Floating ceilings enable you to visually expand the space in small rooms, or, on the contrary, to highlight the spaciousness of the room, if necessary. Such ceilings allow for creating a finish that hides the unevenness of the rough floor and internal connections within the ceiling. They also help in visually smoothing out the flaws of the room, as well as creating spectacular backlighting.

Floating profile GIPPS VILLAR doesn’t show any wall irregularities thanks to the soft backlighting. It is ideal for joining the ceiling with textured wall surfaces and panels.

It is suitable for a 12.5 mm drywall. It docks with shadowline profiles Gipps 3-12.

Showroom. What should it look like? Is it worth it?

During the Marathon we will share our stories and mistakes that we have experienced while constructing our showrooms, ones of our partners, installation and ceiling companies.

We are all for showrooms. They are status indicators, convenient and workable. A showroom has to be in the right place and to be properly designed. It has to represent your perception of the business. Do not place the customer at the heart here.

The crucial rule that we will focus on is ”everything you sell can be sold”. We have eventually come to the conclusion that it is an offer, not a demand, that drives the market. Your offer, coupled with the value that you put. If we sell the lighting that is properly represented, it will be sold. If we do not have photo printing, it will not be sold.

We will dig deeper into this issue during one of the Marathon’s days.

SLIM VILLAR FLOATING PROFILE

SLIM Villar floating profile is a system of walls’ aesthetic lighting whose main aim is to minimize the loss of the finishing ceiling height.

The profile is equipped with a special polycarbonate light diffuser and a damper system of canvas fixing which allows to install both PVC and textile canvas.

The profile light diffusor is designed in a way that makes the light coming from the profile as if it does not have any visible boarders on the wall and does not have any “developing lighting” features which is likely to reveal wall irregularities.

The profile can be installed at the distance from 2.5 to 10 cm from the wall. Note that the upper visible part of the overlap has to be painted in white to get the best result.
