Phongsakorn Chuammitri and his team provided new insight into the role of bovine in the intracellular and extracellular defence mechanisms against major and minor -causing bacteria, including LAB strains. In their work, they analyzed neutrophil movement, degranulation, , production, intracellular bacterial clearance, and release ex vivo from purified blood neutrophils. In addition to the functional experiments, they also performed real-time PCR analyses of expression.
