Due to the Omicron variant of the corona virus continues to spur new outbreaks in some areas worldwide, the competition committee decided to reschedule the deadline to March 31, 2022.

It is highly desirable to use piano accompaniment for your repertoire. However, please put safety first during this pandemic. If you are unable to record with an accompanist, you will not be penalized; your recording will be given the same consideration as all other applicants.

ANNOUNCING...

We are delighted to introduce 2022“MaestrosVision Awards”International Cello Competition’s jury Prof. Amir Eldan.

Amir Eldan performs as a soloist, chamber musician and as guest principal cellist. He served as Principal Cellist of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra and as guest Principal Cellist with the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra. At age 22, he became the youngest member of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra in New York, when he won the position of Associate Principal Cellist and was invited to perform with the MET Chamber Ensemble in Carnegie Hall.

As the winner of the Juilliard Competition, Mr. Eldan made his New York debut in Alice Tully Hall in Lincoln Center. He performed the six Bach Suites in a series of concerts in the United States and in Israel.

As a chamber musician, he has collaborated in performances with members of the Cleveland, Guarneri, Juilliard and Tokyo String Quartets, the Beaux Arts Trio, pianist Richard Goode and cellists Lynn Harrell and Steven Isserlis.

Music festivals appearances include Bowdoin, Giverny (France), Jackson Hole, (Wyoming) La Jolla (California), Orford (Canada), Pilsen (Czech Republic), Prussia Cove (England), West Cork (Ireland) and Xi’an, (China). He also participated in the Marlboro music festival and toured with Musicians From Marlboro.

In 2006, while working on his doctorate, Mr. Eldan was appointed Cello Professor at the Oberlin Conservatory where he also served as Chair of the String Department. As the cellist of the Oberlin Trio, he performed throughout the U.S. and South Korea.

Mr. Eldan holds a Doctor of Music degree and Master of Music degree, both from Juilliard where he also served as a guest teacher. His performances have been featured on television and radio in the U.S., Europe and in Israel.

In 2019, he was appointed Cello Professor at the University of Michigan.

Born in 1982 in Kyiv (Ukraine). Graduate of Kyiv Special Secondary Music School named after Mykola Lysenko (Galina Grishchenko's class) and National Music Academy of Ukraine named after P. Tchaikovsky (class of Ivan Kucher, honored artist of Ukraine). Mykola Lysenko Foundation (2004) and President of Ukraine Fund (2005) scholarships, First prize at the international competition of young executants “XXI Century Art”.

We are delighted to introduce 2022“MaestrosVision Awards”International Cello Competition’s jury Prof. Csaba Onczay.

Csaba Onczay is one of the leading cellists of his generation. He received the Kossuth Prize (1993), the highest award given to any performing artist in all of Hungary. His excellent interpretation of Kodály`s Solosonata op.8., he was awarded the Liszt Prize in Budapest, Hungary (1976), and the Meritorious Artist (1986). He was also awarded the prestigious Bartók-Pásztory Prize in 2004. In 2019 he was presented by the Japanese Government award 'Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon'. He is a member of the Hungarian Academy of Arts.
