In another crackdown on LGBTQ+ rights in Russia, President Putin has signed into law that people can no longer change their gender by undergoing surgical procedures or hormone therapy. Changing one’s gender in official documents and public records is also banned.

In addition, the new legislation says that marriages in which one partner changed their gender will be annulled, and transgender people are barred from adopting children or becoming foster parents.

Before Putin signed the law on Monday, the so-called s*x change ban had been approved unanimously by both chambers of the Russian parliament. The initiators of the law said they wanted to protect cultural traditions and family values in the fight against “Western anti-family ideology.”

Human rights activists denounced the law, calling it a violation of the right to self-determination. Doctors also criticized the move, arguing that it will deny people access to medical help.

Historic! On Saturday, Mbacha Eric won the 42km Helsinki Marathon for the 3rd time in a row. The Cameroonian is on asylum in Finland since 2019. Mbacha fled his country following death threats by separatists fighting to breakaway from President Paul Biya's government. He was being persecuted for partaking and winning the 2018 edition of the Mount Cameroon race.

SO FAR FECAFOOT HASN'T BEEN SATISFACTORILY BILINGUAL IN ITS APPOINTMENTS AND COMMUNICATION

During the reign of Benjamin Didier Banlock who just resigned as FECAFOOT Secretary General, English versions of very important communiqués have been rare. That is the first point!

He is resigning today when he was slammed an indefinite suspension by FECAFOOT in mid April. His resignation is not creating a vacuum as such, so no one should be scandalised, for there must have been an interim sitting as SG in his absence.

Outgoing Secretary Benjamin Didier Banlock, says the management of FECAFOOT is catastrophic, accusing President Samuel Eto'o of administering the federation almost singlehandedly. He is by this insinuating that the current FECAFOOT President is a dictator. According to his resignation letter, Samuel Eto'o may not realise the objectives of his mandate, owing to the way he is handling his personnel.

When we flashback to the allegations surrounding the indefinite suspension of Didier Banlock prior to his resignation, we notice that there is a certain 5 million francs hanging on his neck. This is money that was meant for the affiliation of Aigle du Moungo FC and the registration of its players into what is refered to as "FIFA Connect." It's alleged that the former executive of Aigle du Moungo connived with Didier to syphon the above amount. When a new club executive was formed, they immediately reported the matter to FECAFOOT, and the no-nonsense Eto'o Fils did not hesitate to suspend his SG!!

It's unknown whether Didier has paid that money or he is resigning to distract attention and shy away without clearing the situation.

The error Samuel Eto'o Fils made, was to inherit an SG who worked with his predecessor. He probably did that out of goodwill and with the spirit of a rassembleur, in a bit to ensure continuity. Humans being what they are, see now where that generosity has landed him!

I thought of quickly putting up this analysis, because from the way some Cameroonians are reacting to Didier's resignation, there is a lack of coherence and connection of facts. We forget so fast and end up making very poor synthesis and consequently weak assessments of alarming news. To me, Didier felt humiliated when he was suspended and is merely seeking for relevance with this weightless resignation. Anyone who hates change and rigour cannot like the administration of Eto'o Fils.

Now that w**d is sorting itself out from the wheat in FECAFOOT, isn't it time the blank spaces are filled by natives of the SW and NW regions, whose presence in the FECAFOOOT executive is almost INSIGNIFICANT?
