Check out this note on The Sacredness of Marriage between One Man and One Woman. This message was aired on our Sunday morning Let the Bible Speak program recently:

Holy Matrimony: The Sacredness of Marriage between one man and one woman.

There is a lot of truth in the old adage that two is company, three is a crowd. In God's order of marriage there are only two, one man and one woman. This is God’s order from creation. It is a simple fact of biology that God made man male and female, and marriage between one man and one woman also has the blessing of God as His master plan for the government of the world.
In Ephesians chapter five, the apostle Paul taught the “leave and cleave” principle. The man is to set up a new family unit by leaving his own mother and father and cleaving to his wife, so that they become one flesh. They become a new family joined together in holy matrimony in the sight of God.
This is precious and beautiful, but also fundamental to any society. Hear the words of the apostle Paul, “For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.” Paul stated that this is a great mystery. Not in the sense of being unknown or confusing, but in the sense of being special, holy and sacred in the eyes of God.
Again, it is even more special and beautiful, with an even higher level of mystery in that it reflects the union between Christ and his church. In the Bible, marriage between one man and one woman as husband and wife is a picture of the Lord Jesus taking a bride to himself as his wife. The redeemed people who confess Christ as Saviour are so joined to the Lord that they are considered “members of his body, of his flesh and of his bones” (Ephesians 5:30). “They two shall be one flesh” Ephesians 5:31).
So, marriage between one man and one woman is God’s ordained will for the human race. Marital relations are pure in God’s sight. It honours God for a man and woman to live together. The love they share and their united walk through life glorifies God. It mirrors the wonder of the gospel of Christ. It is a gospel witness in real life, in real time. God is pleased with the happy and holy communion they display as husband and wife. Their home, their children, their commitment and fidelity to each other all testify of a wonder that there is a Saviour who has taken a bride to Himself to love, to support to whom the Lord will be ever faithful even for all eternity.
A Christian husband will listen to the exhortations to love his wife just as Christ loved the church. He will confess that he has never loved his wife as the Lord Jesus loves his bride, the church, for Christ died for her. In like manner, a Christian wife will take heed to submit herself unto her own husband as unto the Lord. She reads this also in Ephesians chapter five and learns the secret to a blessed marriage with the loving, shepherding care of her husband - her house-band - who shelters her and cares for her.
All of this falls into place by the union of one man and one woman. It is a great mystery, copied after Christ and his church. Any other model breaks the pattern. To change the sacred pattern is to defile the body and destroy the picture of Christ and his church.
So, we whole heartedly hold on to the sacredness of marriage between one man and one woman. We dare not change it, nor twist it. No matter the pressures within this rebellious society, God will always honour marriage between one man and one woman.

On a Mission for Marriage. Message 1 on Sunday Broadcasts in Canada.
Marriage is God’s institution.
There is a pressing need to re-evaluate God's gift of marriage. Perhaps for too long we have taken for-granted this amazing masterplan of our all-wise God. We know from God's creation of Adam and Eve and His bringing them together that the marriage union between one man and one woman is God's all-wise master plan for humanity.
Isn't it significant that every culture and every nation practices marriage as the norm of society? Even among ancient peoples who were pagans governed their societies by marriage bonds. At times the rule of marriage has been rejected by rebellious individuals, but they have only been the exception that prove the rule. Explorers and missionaries continue to find peoples and tribes who though having lived in total isolation practice monogamous marriage.
Of course, as Bible believers we are governed by the Bible, not what the nations do, and the Bible is absolutely clear that the first principle of any nation is marriage between one man and one woman. Think about it. No society has ever survived the total abandonment of marriage between one man and one woman. It just doesn’t work.
The very command of God for procreation is built into his creation of Adam and Eve - one man with one woman. We read in Genesis 1:28 "And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it:" This was their mission. Adam and Eve, as one man and one woman are the progenitors of the whole human race. Their sons and their daughters married and had sons and daughters, and they married.
After the tower of Babel, when the nations were scattered around the globe, this principle of marriage between one man and one woman was built into the warp and woof of nations. Various peoples built their societies on marriage of one man and one woman and that has filtered down through the nations whether in Europe, Asia, Africa, or North and South America. This is undisputable. It is the true history of every nation. Who could question that?
That does not mean there was no deviancy or perversion of marriage laws in ancient and more recent nations? No, but it doesn’t change the fact that marriage between one man and one woman was the very basis of law and order among nations. Marital rights and privileges with the rights of inheritance of children to marriages were recognized. This is called family law with property rights, and financial supports granted to widows and to the children of an identifiable marriage between one man and one woman.
This is so fundamental to the human race, no society could survive without it. No society could function even at the most fundamental level without laws of marriage calling for fidelity between a husband and his wife and recognizing the family unit. Indeed, the term family has no meaning without the institution of marriage.
So, marriage is God ordained. God set it up when He created Adam and Eve. God recognizes marriage and uses it to populate the earth. It is central to the function of every nation, every people, every tribe and every community.
It is God’s institution. Next time we will talk about marriage being sacred, for it is a picture of Christ and His church.

What is the Gospel?
The gospel is God’s good news that out of His mercy and sovereign love God has a plan to save guilty sinners from eternal punishment. He sent His Son to suffer as a substitute in the place of sinners, so they are set free from all sin, and accepted into heaven.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16).
“For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved” (John 3:17).

The gospel is God’s way of translating sinners out of an estate of sin and misery into an estate of grace and one day glory.
“Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:”
“Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:”
“In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins” (Colossians 1:12 - 14):

Here is another segment from our gospel leaflet:
Saul also learned, how precious in the sight of God Christians really are. He had treated them as scum, putting no value upon their blood nor their souls. Saul learned that God looked upon believers in His Son as His children. Through God’s eyes, persecuting a child of God, was the same as persecuting God’s own Son. Had not that voice from heaven said to Saul, “Why persecutes thou me?” Saul had not realised the horror of his crimes seeking the blood of all who profess the name of Jesus and causing the death of so many.
The amazing thing about the conversion of Saul of Tarsus is that he found pardon from all his sins. Later, he wrote of the wonder of his conversion,
“This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief.
Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which would hereafter believe on him to life everlasting” (1 Timothy 1:15 -16).
This is the power of the gospel of Christ to change hearts and change destinies. The Lord has done this for every believer in His salvation and He can do this for you too. After Saul of Tarsus became the renowned Paul the apostle he stated, “Whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved” (Romans 10:13). This promise is for you!

What Ever Happened to Saul of Tarsus?
A pardoned murderer sent on a new mission.
Saul, a native of the city of Tarsus, was the brightest star in the cause of Judaism. He was highly educated after the tradition of the Pharisees. As a Jew, his religious pedigree was blameless, and he was passionate about stomping out Christianity. He had authority from the high priest in Jerusalem to arrest Christians from far and wide, taking them from their homes, sending them to jail and even to death.
But while on such a mission to the city of Damascus, Saul was suddenly stopped in his tracks. He was stunned by a bright light from heaven. He fell to the ground hearing a voice saying unto him, “Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me” (Acts 9:4)?
This was the hour of his Damascus Road conversion. He was miraculously converted from being a persecutor of Christians to become the foremost preacher and defender of the Christian faith. Ever since, people have been asking, What ever happened to Saul of Tarsus?
Before his conversion, that is before Saul met the living Lord Jesus on that road to Damascus, Saul considered the resurrection of Christ to be hoax, but after he saw the glory of the Lord Jesus as a light shining from heaven and after hearing the voice of the Lord warning him about persecuting Christians he repented and believed on Christ as Saviour and surrendered to the Lord Jesus as the Lord of His life.

Today's radio program is on Christians finding satisfaction in the Lord Jesus. The Lord Jesus claimed to be the true bread sent down from heaven. That must be a wonderful thing in a believer's soul. It is the real answer to the want and empty searching of peoples and nations who can find no rest in this world. Satisfaction of soul is the Lord's portion to each of His believing people. Listen in to learn how the Lord so ministers to believers.

Here is a segment from our recent leaflet - Good News - Canada.

Hearing it Through

A certain wayward young man ran away from home and was not heard of for years. In some way, hearing that his father had just died, he returned home and was kindly received by his mother.
The day came for the reading of the will; the family were all gathered together, and the lawyer began to read the document. To the surprise of all present, the will told in detail of the wayward career of the runaway son. The boy in anger arose, stomped out of the room, left the house, and was not heard from for three years. When eventually he was found he was in-formed that the will, after the telling of his waywardness, had gone on to bequeath him $15,000.
How much sorrow he would have saved himself and others, if he had only heard the reading through! Thus many people only half read the Bible, and turn from it dissatisfied.
The Bible says, “The wages of sin is death,” yes, but it says more, it says, “but the gift of God is eternal life” (Romans 6:23). _Herald and Presbytery

Here's a word from our LTBS leaflet: Good News - Canada

Why do Christians believe the Bible?
Christians believe the Bible because the Lord Jesus believed the Bible.
The Son of God, the great teacher who came from God, spoke about Adam, Noah, Lot, David et al. By this we know the Bible is trustworthy. In fact in one statement the Lord referred to all of the 39 books of the Old Testament:
“And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me” (Luke 24:44)
This fills Christians with assurance that the Bible is indeed the word of the living God. By this they know that every promise and every prophecy will be fulfilled.
Like a red thread running through it, from Genesis to Revelation the Bible consistently focuses on the person and work of the Lord Jesus. His life, His death and His resurrection were all predicted hundreds of years before His birth. And the Lord fulfilled everything that was predicted of him. He was born of a virgin. He lived a sinless life. He died a cruel death on a tree. He also rose again from the dead on the third day.
The Bible is the written word of God and the Lord Jesus Christ is the living Word of God.

Today's program is part 2 of the cry of the true believer praying for stronger faith. If this is your prayer, it discloses that you have true faith in the Lord as your Saviour. Little faith in a strong Christ still saves. Faith cannot be measured, but Christ's grace can, and it is all sufficient. May the Lord answer you speedily to help you despite your cry "help my unbelief".

Today's radio program is on the cry of the true believer praying to the Lord, "Help my unbelief." A true believer ever feels the weakness of his own faith. It is therefore good to know that weak faith still saves for it is focused on a strong Saviour. His word, His sacrifice and His power are the objects of our faith and whether we believe little or much we are still truly saved, just as a swimmer with a thin, but true, line to the harbour is just as much saved as by a heavy rope attached to the pier.
It is the strength of the harbour that saves the perishing swimmer not the thickness of the rope. Likewise it is the strength of Christ and His redemption that saves us from perishing in our sin.
