Sony Music acquiert le catalogue emblématique de Queen pour 1,18 milliard d'euros
Le fait que Disney Music Group ait acheté le catalogue de musique enregistrée de Queen en Amérique du Nord, dans les années 2000, a compliqué l’opération. Cette complexité supplémentaire n’a pas dissuadé Sony de poursuivre ce qui est aujourd’hui le plus gros contrat de ce type dans l’histoire de la musique, dépassant les 500 millions de dollars (environ 466 millions d’euros) payés par Sony pour le catalogue de Bruce Springsteen à la fin de l’année 2021.

Cette acquisition souligne la stratégie d’expansion agressive de Sony dans l’industrie musicale. Au début de l’année, Sony a également acquis 50 % du catalogue musical de Michael Jackson auprès de la succession du défunt chanteur pour un montant d’au moins 600 millions de dollars (environ 560 millions d’euros).

L’influence de Queen sur la musique rock est inégalée, avec une carrière qui s’étend sur cinq décennies et qui est jalonnée de nombreux honneurs et récompenses. Le groupe a remporté sept prix Ivor Novello, un MTV Global Icon Award et trois chansons figurent au Grammy Hall of Fame. Leur catalogue compte des succès intemporels tels que We Will Rock You, We Are the Champions, Don’t Stop Me Now, Radio Ga Ga, Somebody to Love et l’emblématique Bohemian Rhapsody. Ces chansons ont consolidé le statut de Queen comme l’un des groupes musicaux les plus appréciés et les plus populaires du Royaume-Uni.

Le groupe de punk rock américain THE OFFSPRING sortira son nouvel album, intitulé Supercharged, le 11 octobre 2024 via Concord Records.

Le chanteur / guitariste, Bryan « Dexter » Holland, déclare à propos de l’album : « Nous voulions qu’il ait une énergie pure du début à la fin ! C’est pourquoi nous l’avons appelé ‘Supercharged’. Nous parlons dans ce disque de nos plus hautes aspirations jusqu’aux profondeurs de nos luttes mais d’une manière qui célèbre la vie. Notre single ‘Make It All Right’ en est un excellent exemple, car il parle des personnes dans nos vies qui nous rendent forts quand nous nous sentons faibles, ce sont nos partenaires de crime qui nous font nous sentir bien. » Il rajoute : « L’album a été enregistré dans trois endroits différents cette fois-ci : Maui, Vancouver et notre studio d’Huntington Beach avec notre producteur Bob Rock. J’ai l’impression que c’est le meilleur son que nous ayons jamais eu ! Nous y avons travaillé dessus pendant des mois ! Et nous avons hâte que vous l’écoutiez ! »

Première chanteuse à porter des mini jupes.
Mick Jagger, David Bowie, John Lennon, Keith Richards, Paul McCartney et Bob Dylan ont tous tenté leur chance d'être en couple avec Françoise Hardy. Même que Bob Dylan n'était pas à Woodstock en 1969 parce qu'il était en France pour tenter de la séduire.
