Where would 1D be without Megan? The glue that holds the production office together, Megan’s countless contributions to the company could never be summarized in a brief caption, but we’ll try. Few work as hard as Megan, and even fewer can do it with her smile and grace. Her selflessness, work ethic and huge heart are why we celebrate her today. This week we shine the spotlight on , our wonderful head of makeup department. 💄💋
 
Nakesha started in the industry when she got the opportunity to work with a talented group of students from the Vancouver Film school while living out there. Their  big ideas challenged her to practice her skills in a new arena that required more  creativity and resources. “I got to experience how working on a film is challenging, yet extremely rewarding. Once I got a taste of seeing my work on a monitor, I was hooked.”
 
The best advice she received on a film set was: “you’re only as good as your last day on set.” “Not everyday will be easy but the effort you put forth will show. Work as though it’s the last impression you will leave about yourself on set and work according to how you want to be remembered. Also, consider yourself a student because class is always in session!”

My favourite thing about working with 1Department is doing what I love with people who are equally as passionate about what they do. It takes guts to pursue what others may not and you don’t take it lightly when you get to the place you’ve been working for. There’s a perfect balance of professionalism and jokes because everyone is happy to be there. I’ve also learned so much and been given room to grow - which is really hard to find.
 
The vibe is just different. It’s technically work - but we have a great time doing it. Some of my best times on set have been with this crew.”
