We're excited to welcome Adam Beck to our roster! Growing up in Ottawa, Adam honed his storytelling skills, graduating top of his class at Concordia University. He's directed commercials for Google, Adidas, and more, and his documentary "A Kid From Somewhere" has been featured at TIFF and on Air Canada. Welcome, Adam!

"My work focuses on a history of photography that I felt was largely underrepresented. I describe my photography as tender, unapologetic and real. One of the things that inspires me the most is my family and its history. I’ll often go back to our photo albums to gather references and mix them with a little modern twist to give them this timeless feel. This project is the perfect example. I teamed up with Toronto-based stylist Leban Osmani to create something at the intersection of afro-futurism and history. Photography for me is equally a way to start a dialogue as a form of catharsis. I’ve always told myself I wanted to create the images I wished I saw when I was younger."

"Mon travail se se repose sur une histoire de la photographie qui, selon moi, est largement sous-représentée. Je décris ma photographie comme étant tendre, sans prétention et réelle. L'une des choses qui m'inspirent le plus est ma famille et son histoire. Je me replonge souvent dans nos albums photos pour rassembler des références, puis leur donner une touche de modernité afin de les rendre intemporelles. Ce projet en est le parfait exemple. J'ai fait équipe avec Leban Osmani, un styliste de Toronto, pour créer quelque chose à l'intersection de l'afro-futurisme et de l'histoire. Pour moi, la photographie est aussi bien un moyen d'entamer un dialogue qu'une forme de catharsis. Je me suis toujours dit que je voulais créer les images que j'aurais aimé voir quand j'étais plus jeune."
