Work, work , work. Nicole put in the work and the results are evident
..
with is down over 100lb from her heaviest weight.

She had been over 200lb for almost 3 decades.
When her family was waiting for her at the top of a hill,
and she was huffing and puffing and struggling to make it up with 8 pauses in between,
with her family cheering her on,
she knew something had to change.
Getting out of bed in the morning was a chore.
Her feet, her ankles and her calves hurt to stand on. Going up stairs was painful.

High blood pressure.
High cholesterol.
PTSD. Anxiety. Depression.
Medication didn’t make her feel better.

She turned to food, emotionally ate
and consistently hid it from her loved ones.
She didn’t want that to be her “normal” anymore.

Prior to LadyTheFUp, Nicole had lost & gained the same 50lb over and over and over again.

She wanted a quick fix.
Fad diets, shakes, pills, wraps,
You name it, she’d tried it.

Seeing a little bit of success with some,
and then falling back into old ways & turning to food.

It was heartbreaking.
She hated who she was.
She was tired of being tired,
and not being able to partake in activities with her kids.

So she reached out to me for expert guidance,
and we started together in September 2020.
In 2022, she made her dream of wearing a bikini on stage come true. She fell in love with the competition process and knew she wanted to push for more.

We then spent 1.5 years in a build adding more muscle before prepping for the stage last month where she placed 2nd in the Builder category.

Plain & simple, Nicole DID THE WORK.
The physical work,
the nutritional work,
and the MENTAL work. Nicole - I can confidently say you are the best version of yourself that you have been, both outside & in.

And I know that just under 4 years into this, there is so much more we can achieve. ❤️

I hope you’re as proud of yourself as I am of you.

Thank you for being an exemplary role model to the community.

Melissa shares some of her tips for achieving German goals
..
with Me in 2016 on the left, right is now. I was not feeling great in my mind or body on the left. I reached a hinge point where the discomfort of change was less daunting than the discomfort of the status quo.

Parenting 3 busy boys, full time work, navigating career shifts, big decisions and most recently painful personal loss have been part of the journey.

Some takeaways on getting ‘unstuck’ when I did and keeping it going since…

The hardest part is making different choices than before. Some choices will feel tough, even risky and likely uncomfortable. That’s you finding courage. Remember you have the luxury of choice and remain grateful. What do you have to gain from a different choice? What’s the cost if you don’t? Stay curious and if nothing else it’s a chance to learn.

Lifting weight, intentional nutrition, not negotiating on habits keeps you in a conscious state and It’s when we’re conscious we can notice subconscious patterns. This provides us info so we can adjust and grow. Habits aren’t just for lifestyle, they’re a tool for the mind.

Communicate. To those you feel safe with, to your kids, to yourself. So often we can get lost in negative thoughts or feelings and start identifying as them. Try changing the energy your tapped into. Go for a walk, listen to a motivating podcast or call a life line (my go to) to shift your state and gain perspective.

Plan other demands around training instead of the other way around. The latter is a safe bet training gets sacrificed, compromised or left to luck.

Get free of the limiting thought that having kids, full time work, a sick loved one or taking a professional leap means you can’t take care of yourself or you don’t have time.

Jodi is inspiring us all on
..
.echakowitz with Long before I started my health journey, I wanted to cry any time I would think about how out of shape I had gotten, or how much weight I had to lose, or how unhealthy I felt.

I was desperately unhappy.

Yet, changing my life felt like an unsurmountable mountain to climb.

Until finally, “the pain of staying the same” was far “greater than the pain of change.”

That was when I knew I had hit rock bottom.

That’s why, from day one of my health journey, I put in the work no matter what.

For the first 3 to 4 months, I was exhausted when I woke up and when I went to sleep.

But no matter how I felt, I was not going to give up.

Every day, I got my workouts done.

Every day, I ate and tracked my macros for 5 meals.

Every day, I did some mindset work (reading one chapter of a book at a time)

Every day, I planned the next day’s workouts.

Every day, I planned my next day’s meals.

Every single day, I did the work no matter how I felt.

I was disciplined and NOTHING would derail my efforts.

And then, about four months in, everything just clicked. I started feeling so much better. I was less exhausted and had more energy. And the brain fog started lifting.

And now, when I look back on my journey, I realize that by taking one step at a time, I very quickly scaled what initially felt like a massive mountain.

If you are at the point where I was before I started my journey, take it from someone who is now on the other side of the summit, that you can do this. The key is to take that first giant leap forward and then never give up.

with Notes:

There are secrets to transforming that have nothing to do with your body.

What women want is much bigger than weight loss.

A strong desire to only lose weight is the alarm bell going off that something on a much deeper level is not in alignment with the Soul-self.

with She started swimming at age 66. 33 years later, she’s won hundreds of medals and broken three world records in her age group.

“The pool is my happy place,” says 99-year-old Betty Brussel. One of 12 children, she grew up in the Netherlands and wasn’t able to pursue any extracurricular activities until she retired in 1982. She began swimming and entered her first competition in 1991.

As for her longevity, she credits maintaining an active lifestyle, being a happy person, and simply “doing stuff.” So there you have it: You’re not too old, and it’s not too late.

It's not when you, it's that you start
..
with I started lifting weights at 48. I joined a 12 week weight loss challenge in 2021 at a local gym. This is where I was introduced to resistance training and started to get interested in building muscle. I had no idea whether I was too old to start building muscle in my late 40s. I was at least 20 kg overweight, with loads of cellulite and flabby arms, big Meno belly and generally an unflattering figure. I had absolutely no muscle tone plus I was prediabetic and absolutely miserable.

My mental health was suffering terribly, and I had started to drink too much alcohol and isolate myself from my friends and family.

I realised that if I didn’t start to make some lifestyle changes that I would be fat and miserable and unhealthy for the rest of my life.

Although all the gyms closed because of Covid halfway through my 12 week challenge, I was committed and disciplined enough during this challenge (I had joined so many other challenges in the past, spent loads of money and always dropped out of them) but thankfully this one was different and I was very very determined to keep going with my weight loss journey.

So I started to workout at home with weights that my son let me borrow. I continued to walk 10k steps a day & stick to my eating plan

By the time the gyms were open again I still had enough momentum to return and start my weight training in a new gym.

I have learnt how to progressively overload, lose fat and build muscle at the same time over the last couple of years.

I have completely changed my body composition and I have a better body than I did in my 20s!

I am stronger mentally and physically than I have ever been in my entire life ❤️❤️

Transform your mind. It controls every other muscle in your body. These are wise words by Mareya

with 🥹At 54, I finally realized that comparison is the thief of my joy.

Never pretty enough, young enough, smart enough, tall enough, successful enough.
Hair not straight enough. It’s exhausting.

You say I’m only human and it’s hard not to compare. It’s human nature to compare as your barometer of success with everything here on social media on full display, how can you not compare yourself to the Joneses?

But I’m here to tell somebody God equipped us with a certain set of skills and talents and gifts and genetic predispositions.

At 5’ tall,
I will never play basketball professionally.

I will never spike a volleyball over someone’s head.

I will never attempt to powerlift 500 lbs over my head, and

I will probably never walk the runway of a couture fashion show unless they’re highlighting petite women over 50😂

That’s OK though. I can do a lot of other things. Including:

Wear this one piece bathing suit my husband bought me and feel proud in my skin…

Work out regularly and show up for myself…

Eat to Thrive, so that vitality oozes through my veins…

Sharpen my mind, by always being a seeker of knowledge and truth.

Practice gratitude and love daily, so much so that people won’t know what hit them…

Grow in my faith walk erryday.

And the list goes on and on. The truth is, there are more things that I can do than what I can’t - and that goes for all of us.

To Chef that good good life, you’ve got to be willing to stick with your own recipe because you in the kitchen baking it for you babe.

So what kind of cake are you making today? The fake cake that is only out there wanting to please the world or the one that’s more like angel food? 🧑🏻‍🍳

Let’s finish the year strong, without comparison but more lifting people up and taking them across the finish line with us. Happy Monday, fitfam. LIKE and COMMENT if this spoke to you.

Let's hear it for Suzana as she moves forward in her journey.
# ...
with January GL⭕️W Up

Suzana has been part of the O crew for a while now. She has come a long way since she first walked through our doors but in May 2023 she decided learn how to fuel her body properly with our girl

She started lifting heavier, feeling better and in In 2 months she dropped 20lbs and 6 months later has stayed consistent and continues to crush in the gym!
Hello muscles!

“I was very conscientious of my body especially my abs - bought clothes to hide my mid section etc …. So it was hard to find pictures that show the 20 or so extra pounds to where I am now …
I was 150.6 lbs on May 13, 2023 … probably my heaviest and lost 20 lbs in 2 months…. NUTRITION made ALL the difference with regular gym of course… but nutrition was the key.
I continue to be in the 129 to 132 lbs range. I am very happy! “

Suzana is a mom of 2 and a school principal and makes zero excuses about how busy her life is!

You can work as hard as you want in the gym and see big changes in so many aspects of your life but if you want to see HUGE changes we always say lift heavy & LEARN TO FUEL your body!
