Today in 1980 the world lost Grateful Dead pianist Keith Godchaux in a car accident, very tragic he was very young, he was a really great player. He was part of the band during my favorite era of the band. They were on fire when he was with them, those years were awesome. Unlike Pigpen, Brent & Vince he didn’t sing often. We don’t talk about the RHCP much here but I do love talking about Jane's Addiction. Dave Navarro is a killer guitar player but I’m sure we could agree that he wasn’t the right guy for this band. He did give them some cool songs. I somewhat enjoy this band but LOVE Jane’s Addition. Did anyone see RHCP with Dave? Or JA with Flea on bass?

DJB is an absolute legend, but I think Jimmy Farrar was a fantastic fit for Molly Hatchet and never got the respect he deserved, being in Danny's shadow. He was a big man with a powerful voice and surprisingly wide range. Beatin the Odds has long been my favorite Molly Hatchet album.

I love the video, too, for those of us who feel disjointed at this time. A good reminder that the USA has weathered through deep political/racial/economic divisions and violence before, like those of the late 60s and early 70s. I was there.
