PRAISE THE LORD! To God be the Glory! 2 Kings 5:9-10 says, So Naaman went with his horses and chariots and stopped at the door of Elisha's house. Elisha sent a messenger to say to him, "Go, wash yourself seven times in the Jordan, and your flesh will be restored, and you will be cleansed."
This passage tells the story of Naaman, a distinguished leader who faced a desperate need for healing. Despite his status, Naaman initially rejected Elisha's simple instruction. He saw himself as deserving of something better than that, not a humble washing in a river he considered inferior. Naaman's reluctance reflects how easily pride and preconceived notions can hinder the pursuit of life's breakthroughs.
This story raises a vital question for us: What if God asks for something that clashes with personal expectations or seems unworthy of our effort, especially when life has already been unfair or deeply painful? Sometimes, after enduring hardship, bitterness, or disappointment, the last thing anyone feels like doing is taking another step that feels small or ordinary.
God's ways rarely conform to human logic, yet they are perfectly wise and designed for transformation. Elisha's command for Naaman to wash seven times was not just about physical healing; it was also about heart posture and trust. Today, God may prompt people to forgive, to serve in quietness, to give even when no one is watching, or to obey when recognition is invisible.
The Holy Spirit speaks gently, persistently guiding believers to trust God's process and voice, even when it does not align with personal preferences. Obedience, even in seemingly minor or illogical positions, positions people for miracles. The outcome, like Naaman's restoration, is always God's to determine, but the faith to act is ours. When the call comes, however unusual or uncomfortable, remember: blessing lies on the other side of simple obedience. Take courage, act in faith, and expect God's miraculous work in response.
