Reposted from @megspawspa I feel the need to open the discussion on using muzzles; WHEN NEEDED. this Caucasian Shepherd Dog is 16 months old, as soon as I met her I knew she was a “pandemic pup.” In our initial interaction she was very anti-social, cowered when going to pet, screamed & tried to bite me multiple times just while trying to get her in the bathtub. this my friends, is called F E A R aggression. let’s get this straight, she’s not a bad dog... she doesn’t know any better. I use muzzles for my safety & to gain her trust — in less than 15 minutes this girl was VERY happy to be in my hands.
from start to finish she took me almost 3 hours due to severe undercoat matting... this is in no way how you want your pup to remember their first groom.
moral of the story; get your pet socialized & groomed regularly (starting at 8 weeks of age), muzzles are not always bad, let me work my magic, & T R U S T ME.
TRANSPARENCY: I told her owners about her behaviour, recommended bringing her to see me more often (even just for nail trims) as she needs training & grooming. they now have her booked in every 6-8 weeks as they too, did not know any better... communication is key.
just look at her confidence in the final photo!!
gives me such happiness.
