Osaka Castle is one of Japan's most famous and historically significant castles. Its history dates back to the late 16th century, and it has played a crucial role in the development of Osaka and the broader history of . Here is a brief overview of the history of Osaka Castle:

Construction by Toyotomi Hideyoshi (1583-1597): Osaka Castle was originally built by the renowned Japanese warlord Toyotomi Hideyoshi in the late 16th century. Hideyoshi intended it to be a symbol of his power and a secure base from which to control the region. The castle was constructed on the site of the Ishiyama Hongan-ji, a temple complex that Hideyoshi's forces had destroyed.

Siege of Osaka (1614-1615): After Hideyoshi's death, the Tokugawa shogunate came to power, and they saw Osaka Castle as a potential threat. This led to a series of conflicts known as the Siege of Osaka. The castle was besieged twice, in 1614 and 1615, by the forces of Tokugawa Ieyasu. The second siege resulted in the near-total destruction of the castle.

Reconstruction by Tokugawa (1620s-1629): After the sieges, the Tokugawa shogunate took control of Osaka Castle and began its reconstruction. The castle was rebuilt on a larger scale and with more impressive defenses.

Modernization and Changes (19th-20th Century): Over the centuries, Osaka underwent several renovations and changes in ownership. During the Meiji period in the late 19th century, the castle was largely dismantled, and many of its structures were destroyed. It was later used as a military facility during World War II.

Reconstruction in the 20th Century: After World War II, efforts were made to restore Castle to its former glory. The current main tower, or donjon, was reconstructed using modern construction techniques and materials in the 1930s.

is not just a historical site; it also represents the resilience of Japanese cultural heritage. While much of the original structure was lost over the centuries, the reconstructed castle and its surrounding park offer a glimpse into Japan's past and continue to be an iconic in Osaka.

Japan's version of the Eiffel Tower. The Tokyo Tower stands 333m tall in the heart of Tokyo and is a symbol of post war recovery of Japan. There are a couple of observation decks in Tokyo Tower that you can pay to get in but I prefer viewing it from the outside. This was shot under a Sakura tree near the tower.

It had been raining all day so when I finally cleared up near midnight, I took my bike and cruised around Lake Kawaguchiko. After spending time in the buzzing megacity of Tokyo and Kyoto, being alone in the dark and staring at the silhouette of Fuji-San standing on top of Lake Kawaguchiko was a completely different experience. I have dreamed of seeing Mt. Fuji since I was a kid in the Philippines. I didn't expect to meet it at midnight but I felt a sense of contentment. I hated being alone in the dark but I ended up sitting there for hours.

"The Whistler Train Wreck refers to a unique and intriguing historical site located near Whistler, British Columbia, in Canada. It has become a popular tourist attraction and hiking destination due to its fascinating backstory.

The train wreck dates back to the early 1950s when the Pacific Great Eastern Railway (now known as the British Columbia Railway) operated a freight train line through the area. In 1956, a derailment occurred along this rail line, resulting in several boxcars tumbling off the tracks and scattering throughout the surrounding forest.

Rather than removing the damaged cars, they were left behind and became the unexpected canvas for graffiti artists and an unconventional art installation over time. The colorful graffiti, combined with the picturesque woodland setting, has turned the train wreck into an open-air gallery and a unique point of interest.

In recent years, the Whistler Train Wreck has gained popularity among locals and visitors, attracting hikers, photographers, and art enthusiasts. The site offers a scenic and somewhat surreal experience, with moss-covered boxcars juxtaposed against the natural beauty of the surrounding forest and the Cheakamus River.

As the years have passed, efforts have been made to preserve the site and ensure its safety for visitors. Boardwalks and trails have been established to provide access to the wreck while protecting the delicate ecosystem. It has become a beloved spot for exploration, contemplation, and appreciation of the intersection between nature, art, and history.

The Whistler Train Wreck stands as a testament to the power of nature's reclamation and human creativity, offering a glimpse into the region's railway history while capturing the imagination of all who visit." - ChatGPT

Dreams do come true. This place has been on my bucket list for the last 3 years, so when someone from the HikeAlberta fb group put his camp spot for sale, we jumped on it immediately. I took the heli ride in and out of the campground and the hikes to the viewpoints were relatively easy, so it was a relaxed and fulfilling experience. The nublet was incredibly gorgeous I hiked it twice ๐Ÿ˜†. Thanks to my friends Nhoresa Ferrer Solis Bee Cabarrubias and John Well Hernandez for making this happen!

This is not the Dolomites. This is King Creek Ridge of Kananaskis Alberta.
Maybe it is the influence of social media but I see a lot of people spending thousands of dollars travelling to all these different countries without exploring our own.

The Canadian Rockies are so beautiful with such diverse landscapes and I only spent 45 dollars(thanks to my carpool buddies , , )on gas to get here. Sure it takes some effort to hike but great things require effort.

We planned on hiking a different trail in Banff but due to a change in forecast(thunderstorm), we made a last minute call to hike in Kananaskis instead. At first, I was disappointed about changing trails but as soon as we got up there, I was reminded that all hikes in the Canadian Rockies are beautiful. I just want to sit there and stare at the view all day.

My edit #3 and final edit for the & Editing Challenge - Original is a combination 's blahylur and 's beautiful Aurora.

Compared to the first two edits, I took the composite approach in this one. This was challenging because the raw images were taken from completely different perspectives. It took a lot of trial and error distorting and warping the aurora to fit the perspective of the foreground but I am pretty happy with the result.
