After traveling to more than 30 countries, we realized that the places that we loved the most were not the “must-do” or must-see” places listed in travel guides. Some of our favorite places were not even photogenic or exotic, but we loved them because they gave us a uniquely local experience. We often found these places by luck, but more often we were lucky to be introduced by our local friends. H
aving a local insight provided us with rich and memorable experiences that offered a strong a sense of belonging in a foreign place. There is something incredibly gratifying in feeling like you know something that only locals know or doing something in a foreign land with the ease of a local. It’s ironic. We traveled long distances seeking adventure and to disconnect. Yet, the moments we came to value were those when we felt a sense of belonging in a foreign place; however fleeting or superficial that feeling may be. These experiences inspired us to create gojont, a guide to the places we love in the cities we live in. We won’t show you the must-see or must-do’s of our city. As locals, we usually don’t frequent those places, and there is also plenty of information on those elsewhere. Instead, we’ll show you the places we love, and share the things that make the city special to us. We’ll also show you the basics, such as public transit, customs, etiquette, etc. so you can navigate the city as a local. In a nutshell, we give you the tips we give, and show you the places we show to our out-of-town friends when they come to visit. We hope you like it.
