The Authority for Info-communications Technology Industry Brunei Darussalam (AITI) held the first Artificial intelligence (AI) Governance Symposium on 11 June 2024 at The Core Lecture Theatre, Universiti Brunei Darussalam, raising awareness on the governance and ethical considerations surrounding Artificial Intelligence (AI).

The event commenced with opening remarks from Yang Mulia Awang Haji Hairul Mohd Daud bin Haji Abdul Karim, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Infocommunications) at the Ministry of Transport and Infocommunication (MTIC).

Various esteemed policy makers, industry leaders and academic experts came together at the Symposium to share insights on recent AI trends and tools, as well as the responsible development and use of AI. It featured speakers and panelists from , , , Microsoft Brunei, .bn, , and UBD.

Thereafter, the first AI Governance and Ethics Working Group commenced to discuss the development of a draft Guide for Brunei Darussalam.

The Tripartite Forum took place on 10 June 2024 at Indera Samudra Grand Hall, The Empire Brunei. With over 400 business leaders, government officials, and parliamentarians in attendance, the event highlighted the region's dedication to strengthening cyber resilience in ASEAN and stressed the importance of a unified ASEAN approach to tackle cross-border digital threats.

The event commenced with opening remarks from H.E. Ar. Siti Rozaimeriyanty Dato Haji Abdul Rahman, Secretary-General of ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA), Haslina Taib, Chair of ASEAN BAC Brunei; CEO of and Pg Aki Ismasufian bin Pengiran Haji Ibrahim, Chair of APEC BAC Brunei; CEO of followed by a keynote address from Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew Abdullah. Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II to officially begin the Tripartite Forum.

The one-day programme contained several keynote addresses and panel discussions highlighting the importance of safeguarding the critical infrastructure and sensitive data as ASEAN progresses towards a digital future, including an address from Yang Berhormat Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Shamhary bin Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Mustapha, Minister of Transport and Infocommunications on “Building a Cyber Resilient ASEAN”.

The Tripartite Forum was hosted by AIPA, ASEAN BAC of Brunei and APEC BAC of Brunei, in partnership with the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA) and leading organisations.

On 29 May 2024, the Authority for Info-communications Technology Industry of Brunei Darussalam (AITI) hosted a motivational talk and sharing session in conjunction with International Girls in ICT Day 2024, celebrated last April. The event took place at Brunei Energy Hub Dermaga Diraja .bn and was attended by more than 70 female students from both state and private schools. This initiative, supported by the International Telecommunications Union (ITU), aims to foster a global environment that encourages girls and young women to pursue careers in the ICT field.

The event commenced with opening remarks from the Assistant Chief Executive of AITI, Asimah binti Haji Hassan, followed by sharing sessions by two female leaders, Zara Laila Abdul Hadi, a representative from ITPSS, and Alia Alkaff from , who are making significant strides in blockchain and graphic design.

The sharing sessions included a special presentation from .ptes, one of the finalists in the Women in Science competition. Their project, titled "The Youth Empowerment Project," involves nurturing and expanding leadership skills in the field of ICT.

The event concluded with a panel discussion titled "Empowering Girls in STEM Leadership," followed by the prize presentation for winners of AITI's Digital Arts competition, held from 25 April to 20 May 2024.

Acara tersebut merupakan kerjasama antara Digital Brunei dan PKWE Tutong dengan tujuan untuk memupuk kesedaran dan kecelikan digital dalam kalangan komuniti warga emas di Brunei Darussalam.

Lebih daripada 30 warga emas menghadiri sesi-sesi taklimat yang disampaikan oleh .gov.bn dan .ppdb, yang membincangkan tentang pelbagai topik termasuk perlindungan identiti dalam talian, mengenal pasti laman web palsu, dan penipuan dalam talian.

DigiThink was officially launched on 6 April 2024 as part of the “International Women’s Day 2024 - Impact the Future” event co-hosted by and . The event was held at Amar Pahlawan Hall, Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications.

The event started with opening remarks from Sarinah Ziziumiza, the project lead of DigiThink, followed by a speech from the Guest of Honour, Yang Berhormat Queenie Chong, Member of the Legislative Council, Founder and CEO of Memori. The event was attended by trainers, educators, learners, and digital literacy advocates alike.

DigiThink is an initiative that aims to elevate digital literacy in the Southeast Asian region. Embedded in the YSEALI Decade of Impact, the initiative complements the YSEALI Seeds for the Future program through the creation of Digiverse, a project dedicated to enhancing digital literacy among younger generations, thus broadening its influence in nurturing a tech-savvy community.
