The name Kevin Major might ring a bell to you. Kevin brings a wealth of experience to the table at manley, having spent no less than 22 years as a journalist at Belgium’s national TV channel . During his time there, he refined his skills as a news reader at radio stations Studio Brussel and MNM. We are only too happy to have all that knowledge on board and see it applied in Kevin’s role as a senior PR manager at manley. 📝

Outside of the office, Kevin is a maestro in the realms of producing and DJ’ing, crafting beats that move both bodies and souls. 🎶💫 When he’s not busy making magic in the studio, you can find him hitting the tennis courts. 🎾☀️

🚴‍♀️ The Tour of Flanders is back, and we’re gearing up for an exciting ride! ⚡️ Let’s rewind to our incredible journey with KPMG and Flanders Classics in the Closing the Gap project in 2022 and 2023. Last year, for the first time, the prize money for women in all Flanders Classics spring classics equaled that of men.

The continuing project aims to eliminate gender inequality, aiming to professionalize women’s cycling.🏆 The developped sustainable business model, containing additional youth races, category increases and expanded broadcasting, must permanently turn the tide.

Now, as we eagerly await this year’s winners, we’re especially thrilled to see the results in women’s cycling. 🌟

Breaking news! 📰

Last year the Tour of Flanders cycling race awarded equal prizemoney for both male and female winners. The same will apply to ALL Flanders Classics spring cycling races in 2023! 🚲👊🏽

Thanks to the renewed partnership between Flanders Classics and KPMG, the initiative represents another step towards eliminating the gender gap and further professionalising women’s cycling.

As such, the opening Cycling Spring Classic, the Omloop het Nieuwsblad, will be the first top-level race for women, joining the Women’s WorldTour. Parallel Flanders Classics Women invests heavily in broadcasting and more opportunities to grow the sport amongst youth. 🚀

“These new initiatives in 2023 represent a total investment in the project of around €1.6 million,” says Flanders Classics CEO Tomas Van Den Spiegel. “As such, our initiative is already triggering a snowball effect: we are seeing other organisations around the world following Flanders Classics Women’s example, including the Tour de France.”

“Equal recognition for women is about more than just the money,” says KPMG Head of Sales & Marketing Stefanie Pauwels. “Extra funds are a step towards creating the best possible conditions for female cyclists, both financially and in terms of sports performance. Also, investing early in the careers of young riders will have a systematic and generational impact in the world of cycling. The impact of the Closing the Gap project will therefore be felt much further than the current generation of riders alone.”

The new cycling season gets underway on Saturday 25 February.

Beautiful words of Thomas Bohner, CEO of startup Credix who recently raised 11.32 million euros in capital from several American billion-dollar funds - their 2nd funding round in less than 1 year. Credix is the only credit platform in the world on which investors can safely invest with cryptocurrencies.

“I told the banks I worked for in 2014 to focus less on Visa and Mastercard and more on crypto, blockchain and bitcoin. But those weren't popular topics back then,”Thomas says.

Thank you La Libre Bloovi and Trends-Tendances for your attention to female role modelling in tech. We need your help to drive the change. 🙏🏽💫

We had the pleasure of discussing in-depth with the ladies of the InspiringFifty Belgium 2022 how we can achieve more diversity in the tech sector. Some takeaways:

👶🏽 We need to introduce children, especially girls, to technology in a playful way as from kindergarten. We need to make tech the most natural thing to them.

👩‍👩‍👦‍👦 We must also involve their parents, because a supportive network is of great importance so that girls - especially in their teenage years, or when making a choice of study after secondary school - don’t drop out of tech. Peer pressure and cultural pressure are real.

🙋🏿‍♀️ A solution in the short term: there is a large group of women who are already active in business life, and are willing to be trained to work in IT. Invest in them, and they can start to work for you tomorrow.

👨‍💻 Tech is no longer just for the IT nerd with the hoodie. Tech is present at all levels of the company, it is at the heart of businesses. In other words, you don't need to have a tech background at all to work in tech.

🌳 A lot of women (and men and x) look for purpose and true (social) impact in their work. Knowing that tech is THE way to change things, in all walks of life, it is important that we communicate more clearly about this.

🌍 Tech is incredibly attractive to those looking for a flexible, well-paid job. (Often) you can work from anywhere in the world, at times that suit you. A great job for people who want to combine their work with family and/or travel.

InspiringFifty Belgium, the non-profit organization aiming to increase the number of women in leadership positions in the technology sector, today announces the 50 Belgian women leaders in the field. The jury team chose from no less than 173 nominations. ​

Elke Kraemer, founder of InspiringFifty Belgium: "Mentalities are gradually changing, we see more and more women in leadership positions in tech. This is a good thing because there are so many ways to succeed. THese 50 women leaders prove it: they don't all have STEM training and are active in a wide range of sectors: from banking and marketing to the public sector and education. Technology is everywhere today!"

Belgian fintech start-up Credix raises 11.32 million euros ($11.25 million) in a Series A capital round.

Credix's marketplace connects investors with credit companies in emerging countries, where access to bank loans is still expensive and complex.

Motive Partners Eearly Stage fund and ParaFi Capital, two American funds, are the chief investors.
