Leader Flashback: Fifty years ago this week, the Lugarno ferry service came to an end. On December 12, 1974, a small number of people watched on as the last car was about to drive off after the final crossing. In the background is the Lugarno boatshed. The ferry would continue to provide service outside the area after it was overhauled and sent to Berowra to replace an eight-car ferry there.
