About the Portuguese Radio

For more then 28 years the Portuguese Radio has been serving the portuguese speaking communities of Sydney and more recently a world wide audiences thru the internet with live streaming of programs and interaction with listeners using our social media pages on facebook and tweeter. we cover local sydney events by broadcasting live utilising our state of the art mobile

studio and are able to gather a crowd to an event, we proved this again this with our live broadcast from the Food and wine fair organised by Marrickville council, this had more then 15,000 people attending. We broadcast the live soccer games direct from Portugal, these have a very large fan base from 16 t0 60 years olds males. More recently we acquired the local Portuguese Newspaper "Jornal Portugues Australia" with this the Radio and our social media pages we able to reach the 85,000 Australian portuguese speakers. Portuguese is It is the official language of Portugal, Brazil, Mozambique,Angola, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, and São Tomé and Príncipe. Portuguese has co-official status in Macau in East Asia, East Timor in Southeast Asia and in Equatorial Guinea in Central Africa. Also the result of expansion during colonial times, Portuguese speakers are also found in Goa, Daman and Diu in India and in Malacca in Malaysia. Portuguese is a part of the Ibero-Romance group that evolved from several dialects of colloquial Latin in the medieval Kingdom of Galicia. With approximately 210 to 215 million native speakers and 240 million total speakers world wide.
