Congratulations to former Pine Rivers State High School student and Wantima Country Club star, Cameron Smith, who has won the prestigious British Open golf tournament!

MAJOR WINNER

Congratulations to Pine Rivers Class of 2010, Cameron Smith who, overnight won the 150th British Open (one of golf’s 4 majors) at the home of golf - St. Andrews.

Cam started the final round 4 shots behind the leaders and produced “one of the greatest finals rounds in majors history” to win his first major.

He becomes the first Aussie to win a major since 2015 and the first to win The Open since Greg Norman in 1993.
A tremendous achievement, Cameron.

The Westerner sends its thoughts and condolences to the family and friends of Paul Dobbins, who lost his battle with brain cancer on 21 December.
