I explored a new stream today and found some mid 40’s bass around the snags.

The good thing about 9” GrubZ, only big fish are willing to smash it.

Huge shout out to from who helped me to catch my first jewfish.

Bo and I had a double hook up on the 5” HerculeZ. Unfortunately, he dropped his fish after a few seconds but I landed this 97cm one. I’m pretty stoked as I haven’t caught jewfish before.

Thanks for the tough but epic session mate, looking forward to going back and catching some more fish.

Wild big bass were on fire this morning.

I had an amazing bush walking/cooking/topwater creek session today. If you’re targeting big bass in shallow water the 5” StreakZ Curly Tail and the 4” Goat ToadZ rigged on a TT ChinlockZ are your best bet. 🤌

I always like to think out of the box. If there’s any 40+cm bass in the stream, that fish will destroy the 9” GrubZ rigged on a ChinlockZ jighead.

I really wanted to bring my Hakai reel to Victoria for the Christmas holiday but I didn’t want to pay for the extra rod tube.

I purchased this little unbranded telescopic rod that perfectly fit in my suitcase. It’s obviously not perfect but better than nothing I guess. ✈️ 👌🎣

Two Europeans, from Norway 🇳🇴 and I 🇭🇺 explored the local Victorian freshwater ways today. Nothing on topwater but both of us managed to catch bass on the Vortex spinner bait. Looking forward to going back next week.🙌

Fishing on the Gippsland Lakes is very tough at the moment, so .scoles and I fished at Tamboon today.

We had a slow early morning start but kind of cracked the code later when we started catching some decent one on the 4” StreakZ Curly TailZ in Pinfish colour rigged on 1/8oz, size 1 HeadlockZ HD jighead.

If I would have to choose only one topwater soft plastic from the line up, that would be the Goat ToadZ. Great design and definitely one of the best topwater soft plastics on the market for barra, bass, jp’s, jacks etc etc.

The size is big enough to tempt the biggest fish in the pool. It casts like a bullet and the colour range is sensational.

I’m actually planning to write a comprehensive article about this lure for the newsletter.

The 3.5” Trick SwimZ is not my go to plastic but saved the days so many times when other lures failed.

The cool thing about the Trick SwimZ, you can use it as a topwater lure on weightless jighead. Thanks to its slender profile the hooking rate is very good.

This particular colour the Plum/Chartreuse is my favourite for creek bashing and highly recommended if you’re targeting bass, jungle perch or big soots.

Another crazy topwater idea but it works well. I rigged the 5” StreakZ Curly TailZ in Pink Glow colour on a ChinlockZ and used it as a topwater lure. The reward was a decent wild bass. 🙌

I had a great little creek session with David aka today. The bite was a bit tougher than usual but we both managed to catch a nice wild bass.

I noticed that the bigger bass in my favourite skinny creek are constantly attacking water dragons and smaller snakes on the surface.

So it made me think, if I can use the 9” GrubZ rigged on a 6/0 TT ChinlockZ as topwater lure. Well, it worked as a treat, this mid 40 wild bass smashed it no problem. 💥

This promo video for the Okuma Hakai reel has personally been one of my favourite videos to film, since I started filming.

You can imagine how difficult it is to catch a decent size bass from a skinny creek- and film yourself with 2 cameras, 3 GoPro's and a drone!

The Hakai is my new favourite reel for Bait Finesse System (BFS) fishing.

Thanks to its high end specs, such as ultralight FLITE SPOOL™ and FLITE SHAFT™, HPB bearings, magnesium body, etc. the reel is fully capable to cast ~3.5g lures.
