How long ๐Ÿ“should your podcast ๐ŸŽง episodes be?

Thanks to Kate from Umina ๐Ÿ–๏ธ, NSW, for sending this question through!

Like a piece of string ๐Ÿงต there are many factors that determine the length of a podcast.

In episode 11. of the Pod Like a Pro podcast Nat and Liz talk you through the factors you need to consider. They also talk about the latest Australian research on how long pod listeners like their episodes.

But Liz's one basic rule on length is explained in this video.

๐ŸŽ™๏ธWe've been busy this week learning the joy of sustainable play as we hit record on season two of the ReNewy Living Podcast, hosted by Mardi Lee.

Through sound and story we heard of the joy and importance of sustainable play at the Uniting Pre-School Caves Beach.

We heard the chickens๐Ÿ“, and the story of Tiddalick the frog ๐Ÿธ , we crouched down to see some native bees ๐Ÿ and named all the veggies in the garden ๐Ÿฅ•. The birds were above as the importance of place was spoken about. ๐Ÿฆ…

To weave these sounds together into a soundscape that takes the listener on a journey is such a joy.

๐ŸŽง Season two of the ReNewy Living Podcast is currently in production, but for now you can catch up on season one here ๐Ÿ‘‰ https://podfollow.com/1765861429

Listening๐Ÿ‘‚๐Ÿ‘‚ is fundermental when making a podcast and there are four main areas of listening to consider. Liz and Nat tell you what they are in espisode 9. of the Pod like a Pro podcast.

They also tell you why wired over ear headphones ๐ŸŽง are the bomb!

Don't let fear๐Ÿ™€ hold you back from starting your podcast๐ŸŽ™๏ธ!

Worried that you're not an enough of an expert๐ŸŽ“? Are you afraid to be seen ๐Ÿ‘€or heard๐Ÿ‘‚? You're not alone.

In episode eight of the Pod like a Pro podcast Nathanael Little speaks to Crystal Wong from the Melbourne Schools Podcast about how she overcame her fear blocks to create the podcast of her dreams.

๐ŸŽง Episode out now๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿ‘‰ https://shorturl.at/djQ2P

Take aways:
*๐Ÿ˜ฑFear of being seen, heard or not being an expert can hold you back from making a podcast. Even if you have something important to say and a passion to make one.

Crystal tells Nat, "who am I to start a podcast? I'm just a regular parent. I'm not in the education scene. I'm just trying to pick a school for my own daughter".

*๐Ÿ˜จThe fear of making a podcast is worse than the process of actually doing it.

Crystal says "doing the thing is actually really not that bad now".

*๐ŸงญGetting guidance and support can help you overcome the fear that is unnecessarily holding you back from sharing your unique voice.

Asked about the advice Crystal would give her former self, "you should have just done it!".

We're finalists in the Australian Podcast Awards!

This is super exciting for us and our clients, The Content Rebels.

Being named in the shortlist for these awards is pretty important for all Australian podcasters - it's also quite difficult. So to make the list of the best of the best is really something.

Congratulations goes to Sarah Spence and the team at the Content Rebels.

We loved making this trailer so much, we thought we'd share it again!

Warning: Long heartfelt post ahead

Human rights are elusive things. For some people, human rights are such a given, that almost no time is spent thinking about them. For others, fighting for rights can become a life long pursuit. For many who live on the outskirts of society's "norm" - it's a murky and complex area.

The thing is that many people who are not having their rights met, are being told, through the very workings of our culture, that it's ok. And when everything around us works to say something is ok, it's hard to see it for what it really is - not ok.

And that's why we are so thrilled to have played a part in the making of the CDAH Peers Podcast.

The CDAH Peers Podcast is a space where people with disability talk about what really matters to them. In each episode, through storytelling, we get to the heart of lived experiences.

For us here at Pod and Pen Productions, the podcast started as a series of workshops, which has turned into ongoing consulting (and friendships, let's be honest).

The Pod Squad, as they affectionatley call themselves, are a switched on group of peers with lived experience of disability. They wanted to make a podcast on human rights to help others in the disability space understand, recognise and advocate for their own human rights.

For some people, their disability is just a small part of who they are as they go about their lives in a meaningful way. For others, they might be dependent on carers and support workers for education, insight and advocacy. That's where the CDAH Peers Podcast comes in.

It's a place that helps peers understand their rights, through the experience and stories of fellow peers. But it also allows carers, service providers and family members an insight into lived experience

What important work this podcast will do!

And guess what? Episode 1 is out!

**Trigger warning: This post is talking about su***de prevention**

Today is World Su***de Prevention Day.

It's not something we like to talk about, but the fact is, more people will die by su***de if we don't.

That's why is was such an honour to produce this episode of the Law Matters podcast.

In this important conversation host, Catherine Henry, talks to mental health advocate, Craig Hamilton about what 'the promise' is and why we should all make it.

You can listen to the full episode ๐Ÿ‘‰ https://lnkd.in/gbMM83pu

On a side note, I've known Craig for years, worked closely with him and call him a mate. He's the real deal, and if you want to know more about su***de prevention check out his documentary The Promise (streaming on Stan) or his book, Broken Open, now available as an audiobook.

Remember, if you are struggling, Lifeline is there. Call 13 11 14.
