Wirrim Media Pty Ltd are currently casting for a self-funded short drama.
TITLE
The Return
LOGLINE
A soldier’s demons’ surface
SYNOPSIS
Set in the 1970’s a young solider returns home. He reconnects with family and his childhood sweetheart. As he settles into normal life again, the trauma of war surface and impacts his life and those close to him.
CAST
We are looking for a male and female leads (20-25 years). Also, an older male and female (55-65 years). Must have good experience in drama as the characters experience trauma and PTSD.
LOCATION
The film will be filmed on the Gold Coast or northern NSW in mid Feb over a 2-day weekend.

We have a small budget as it is self-funded film. We will be able to cover costs such as fuel and a small daily fee. We will feed you well as well!! We have a great, extremely talented, and very experienced crew working on the film.

CASTING CALL
Wirrim Media are currently casting for a series of films for an Indigenous health provider as part of a major campaign to be launched later this year.
We are still looking for a few more 1st Nation males and females (25 to 50) to play the roles of health workers being interviewed.
Synopsis
The roles are based on Indigenous health care workers talking about their experiences in the health care system.
Location
The series of films will be filmed in Brisbane and on the Gold Coast at the end of July early August over a 2 day period TBC.

• Female (45-50) (non-Indigenous): role is as a university lecturer
• Male (35-40) (non-Indigenous): role is as a university lecturer
• Male (early 30’s) (Indigenous); role is as a new lecturer on campus

Can't believe it has been over a year since updating our page. We have done so much in that time! Sold our studio to a major production company. Built an even bigger client base. Employed some amazing staff. Transitioning to a more creative slate of projects. Bought a grip van. updated production assets. Had a music clip entered into an international Indigenous festival. Had a great week this week in the studio working with Teila Watson on her music clip complex concept and it will look amazing.
Had an amazing image and motion shoot with Phyre Apparel yesterday at Wirrim Studio Burleigh Heads.
Very proud that we are able to work and create with other Indigenous companies like Phyre Apparel.
Abe did an amazing job directing the shoot with 12 models across 10 sports. Only went 30 minutes over time!

Perhaps there comes a time when the writer needs to put down the pen and become the listener. Indigenous storytelling runs deep. Never has it been more important for us to stop, listen and really hear the story. Meet Richard and Abraham, proud indigenous GC creatives who have built and now coordinate .
One afternoon Richard shared...
'I've done a lot before we created this studio. My degree in social work and a job with Foreign Affairs saw me end up in Bali just after the bombings in 2002. I helped families recover and received an OAM for that work but it was after the death of a friend that I hit a real low. I reflected on a lot and made my way to the GC with a need to return to storytelling. My son and I make films to tell our stories. Unfiltered, honest and raw stories. We've hit some road blocks but it is time now to push forward.
Yes, I have opinions about what is going on in the world. It's time to stop the rhetoric because when all the marches cease and the noise dies, will there be a shift? Will there be real change? Until there is, we will forever visit this. I don't want my kids to have to justify who they are and their place in this world ever again. I'm tired of the violence. I'm tired of feeling like our voices hit brick walls. I hold out for the day when white men stop and listen because that is when real change will happen. Together, we need to turn hopelessness into real hope.
My dream?... to tell our stories. We want to build our community, a creative hub for film makers where everyone is welcome, black and white. I am a bit over the 'gatekeepers' who can be biased when judging films to determine inclusion into festivals. Perhaps we can be our own gatekeepers for a change. There are creatives on the coast who don't have an outlet. We plan to change that. That's a worthy goal in my opinion".
Thanks Richard and Abraham. I'm already in awe of what will be created within those Wirrim walls. There are days when all I see is cloud cover. Then there are days, when I sit with people like you and I catch the light creeping through the shadows, and decide again to stay tender and hopeful. Those moments are not to be taken for granted. 🙏

Located in beautiful Burleigh Heads, QLD Wirrim Studio has been two years in the making. A space specifically designed for all creatives to tailor their experience.
So some sad and horrible news awaited us today. With all the rain last night on the GC the Studio flooded and has been severely damaged. Both screens the floating floors and the carpet and some equipment has been badly damaged. So it seems we will need to shut our studio operations down for a number of months in order to repair the studio and ensure it doesn't happen again. There seems to have been about 3 inches of water through the place. 😥😥😥

Had a amazing day in the Studio yesterday working with some fabulous creatives. Sean Cholburra and Steph Tisdall and the wonderful creative director Douglas watkin and all brought together by creative agency Gilimbaa. Such a funny day talking about poo and getting the important message of bowel screening. 🎬🎥💩💩
After 14 year of filmmaking Wirrim has just recieved its first royality payment for a film! We feeling like rockstars! A few more of these and I reckon we can make it big!
