Here’s a throw back to an old brochure for the studio. We’ve been in the Byron Shire for over 30 years! It’s seen lots of changes over the years but still has the same beautiful sounding rooms and gear. Microphone Monday! The Neumann U 89 i
An amazing sounding mic and extremely versatile in the studio. Conceived in the 1980’s with the intention to improve upon the infamous U 87. It is smaller and lighter than the latter and can handle higher sound pressure levels, has more flexible low cut filters and features a more natural and linear frequency response. Amazing on vocals for those who want a smooth natural representation of their voice. We have both of them so come see what works best for you 🙂 .berlin

Did you know you can hire out our control room for mixing and mastering! Featuring 3 sets of monitors that will all give you different perspectives on your mix. Our room sounds amazing and extremely accurate. No need to guess if what you’re hearing will translate.
The Genelec 1032A sound very clear and offer extended low frequency response so you can really dial in your low end. The KRK V8 S4 sound very tight and offer extremely smooth midrange definition without colorization. Then we have the infamous NS10’s which have been used to mix countless famous records around the world. While they don’t sound as “good” and balanced as the others, that is the whole point. We can add a piece of tissue paper over the tweeter upon request! Featuring the Slate Monitor Control you can switch between the 3 with a click of a button.

Sitting on the top of the rack is a stereo pair of vintage Neve 2254A Compressor / Limiter. The sound of a 2254 is often described as creamy, warm and round. One of our favorites for drum sub groups and room mics.

Our Neve VR 48 console was bought back in the 90’s and brought to Australia from a broadcast studio in Rome. It came it a huge crate in pieces and old studio owner Keith Williams spent hours on the phone with Rupert Neve putting it all back together. We’ve had the console racked into channel strips so we can still get that classic warm neve sound with the functionality of a modern workflow 👌🏼

Nothing quite like the look and sound of wood in a live room. Our live room A features Forest Oak, Crow’s Ash, Rosewood and even Camphor Laurel. It sounds exceptional for drums, piano, horns, acoustic guitar, vocals and pretty much anything you can think of 🙂

One of our go to spots for recording guitar amps in Live Room B. Getting the amp off the ground and on the elevated carpeted surface will prevent unwanted early reflections and disperse sound into the room better.

We have lived through forced cancellations due to covid. During that time there was a huge Lack of support for individuals, small business, live music and festivals which seems to be taking its toll

When I was 16, I’d sneak into the local pub on their singer-songwriter night. I always sat up the front, watching these people tell stories & share songs with nothing but voice & guitar

Often the artists would invite other people onto the stage & they’d sing together… I remember looking at them & saying to myself “I want to do that. I want to sing on stage with my friends”

Honestly, it’s one of the reasons I pursued a career as an artist

By 16, I’d been writing songs for a while but I was still too shy to perform them. On the rare occasion that I’d sing for my friends/family I made them turn around so they couldn’t see me singing … OR i would turn around & sing with my back to them all 😂

When I was 18 I worked up the courage to get on a “real” stage & my first gig was a banger💥

I got cocky, and my second gig was an absolute flop😂

LESSON LEARNED.

After that, I started the long process of working on my craft… that process will NEVER end (& i’ve been told by a lot of people now that my shows are quite awesome… so I *think* I’ve bounced back from that disaster 😂)

Throughout it all, one thing has stayed constant - singing on stage with my friends is still one of my biggest joys. And, as my career has progressed, that joy has expanded into the studio

So, last year I booked into my favourite Rockinghorse Studios to self-produce my new EP with an incredible team of artists that I’m also lucky enough to call my friends ❤️

And the first song, “Cyclone” is coming out ON FRIDAY (with a video too) 🙌

So keep your 👀 &👂out for THAT ❤️
