Building your client base depends a lot on what I call your foundation months. This your first couple months of lashing when you are doing models. This is the time where you learn from your clients about what they like, don’t like etc. You build your business around the things your client are reacting positively or negatively too. Watermarks, watermarks, watermarks. I don’t think canna is on the list but yes that’s great for watermarking your work. Make sure you put in the effort and watermark your work so that potential clients know who you are. You don’t want your earned knowledge to go to somebody else. On that note. NUTS! I use acuity scheduling and it saved my life. I can set it up to take percentages, the full thing, a dollar amount etc. I love lashing do anything that automates the business aspect of things is a must. If you are going to take one find a way where you don’t have to be in process and it’s an automated experience for the clients. There are also different forms of deposits you can explore.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

If so the question is ask is why? Even better yet ask the clients why. It can be scary to get feedback but it’s the only way you will improve your business. Don’t let social media be the only place that owns your client data. Remember at the end of the day if you have their email you can successfully re-engage them on your terms. Even if you have Instagram and Facebook make sure to always keep pursing to own your clients because you worked hard for them. It's funny that in this social media era it can feel like your success and others are just a post length of journey. However there have been times in my journey when I have had anxiety about getting clients, making money, paying my bills. Hell! I hate the mailbox or checking my emails because it's not the post person is not the only barer of bad news. Now the bills just pop up amongst your emails. Quick tip! Set up an email address specifically for your bills and only check when you are in a robe, a warm bath, soothing music and an over flowing bank account. Anyways I digress. The moral of this post is if you want clients you need to find out how to get clients. Don't sit ideally by and complain because that will definitely not get you any clients. Xo Annie

My all time favourite booking system for lashing at home is Acuity scheduling. It's versatile allows growth, gives lots of reminder options and best of all it goes for only $0 - $500 for their biggest package. Many times I get alerts of people booking at 1am or even 4am in the morning. All without a text, or a long drawn out calendar exchange convo. My booking system is on my instagram, facebook and website. I also have it on my phone ready to be sent when an inquiry comes through. You never want to miss out on an opportunity for a client to book all because they don't know how to book or where to book. Xo Annie

A post ago I talked about making sure that you have a professional environment before the clients arrive. Now we are talking about contacting clients after the appointment. Contacting your clients after the appointment will be put you ahead of the game and most importantly show your clients you care. It is also a perfect time to re-enage clients who have not booked a refill. Remember it's your job to go above and beyond for your clients. Xo Annie

The great thing about lashing is that you can make life long friends friends. The bad thing is this can sometimes blur the lines between who is a client and who is a friend. It is important (i think) to always keep a professional relationship because at the end of the day you are providing a professional service. They are paying you to do their lashes and the better service the more loyal your cliental will be.

We think customer service starts when the client comes to your door but actually customer service starts well before that. Do you have a clear booking system?, Are you professional while communicating with your client, are you setting up multiple reminders so that your client is fully aware of their appointment? These minor things can make the difference between a fair weather or loyal client.

I find the most sure fire way to grow your lash business is to provide great customer service. An element of customer service is having an environment that is CLEAN, COMFORTABLE AND COMFORTING for your clients. When you put your client's comfort first you will never get a better referral. The first time I started thinking about this was when I started a training course for salon managers. I never thought about it before because when you are a solo operator it is very hard to get your head out of the game. You are putting in late nights and to be honest caring about other people more than yourself. However when I became aware of this I became obsessed. My ultimate goal is to get the percentage up to 90%. Yes that is very high but I believe it's achievable. To find out your retention percentage just get the number of refill appointments you had in January divide it by the number of appointments you had that month, times it by 100 and therefore you go. I go through how you can increase this percentage and the best thing is it is completely free if you have the February bundle. To be honest the first time I made a six figure income it was out of sheer luck. It happened totally by accident. It is only through building sixfigurelashbiz did I start to recap on the strategies that I actually unknowingly put into place to make it all happen. When you first start lashing you will get excited about charging the $150-$250 fullset your lash schools said you are entitled to. So start lashing you realize that it's not easy to get a cliental that you can even charge that amount to. Some of you will stand your ground and just wait for those rare clients to build up, others will conform to settling their prices. However what we are all doing is ignoring the big juicy money making items that you were never taught to value; refills. Refills take less time, less resources and more importantly cost $0 in advertising dollars. As long as you are satisfying your clients you are good to go. The other great thing about refills is you get to catch up with the awesome clients that you love. You can curate a great group people that you actually enjoy getting to know and talk to. I am just a regular, degular girl from Australia; No sprinkle, no spice (well maybe a little). I am not great, or grand. All I did was find the strategies that worked at getting and retaining clients and away we went. Many times things can look unachievable because we put greatness on the person achieving the task. We all have the capacity to do so however sometimes it's just hard to create systems that force us to work. For example actually I hate working. I am one of the laziest people I know. If I had nothing scheduled for that day I will definitely be binge watching Shrek. So you know what I did I got a booking system where clients automatically booked so I had to be at the appointments as it was already tabled in. If it was tabled in I would show up. People used to say you are so hard working. In response I would just laugh because little did they know if I didn't have to be here I definitely would not be. Now think about your life. Are there habits bringing you down? Write them down and see if you can automate your life to include them passively rather then automatically.
