Walker:
I’ve chosen a deep and groovy selection of tracks for this AKA mix series episode, with some breakbeat and spicy acidic elements to flex some of the variety that is within my music collection. Minimal and Hypnotic cuts have been the constant highlight in my music library, as I’ve collected almost every genre since the mid 2000s from Breakbeat, Chicago House, to Hard Trance & UK Freeform. I have endless love for Minimal because it shows that louder and faster doesn’t equal a stronger dance floor experience. You can strip it all back and give the room some space to breath and still create a strong dance floor buzz with lesser sounds, when the right tracks are selected as the right time. This applies to all genres, but it wasn’t until I discovered Minimal in 2005 that I truly understood this approach.
This mix includes some fresh gems, and a few classics (Tobi Neumann’s timeless remix of Dinky’s “Acid In My Fridge”), some deep digs (Nat Wendell’s Silky Smooth “Know Where It’s At”) and a super tasty new release by Rascal on Berlin Label, “Zapped”, is “HypnoTrick” (his whole new EP is sensational). A peek into my favourite corner of my music collection.
Minimal, Stripped Back & Deep Groove tracks will always have a place in my sets. The continuation of groove for hours on end creates an atmosphere like no other, in my opinion. The slow heightening of energy and intensity. My favourite vibe. Makes you feel alive.
Hope you enjoy listening, huge gratitude for Jack Foran for welcoming me onto the AKA mix series. AKA is an exciting venture for Jack, and I support his vision for this fresh project of his.
