‘Take The Fight To The Bastards’ is the fourth album for Western Australia’s Last Quokka and the first album to feature new member Dion Mariani, formerly of The Flairz.

Last Quokka play punk. Their songs are about Australian culture and not always in a good way. Songs like ‘Save Our Pubs’, ‘Cost of Living’, ‘Rupert/Gina’ and ‘Nazi Scum’ recognise a side of Australia not about sung about.

The world is inflicted with a plague of greed - the fat corporate core has plundered and s**t on the peripheries for too long, it now bites back with the vengance of it’s adaptive survival screamin’ and riffin’ with the coarse cut of reality come home. LAST QUOKKA takin' flight to the nation with new album and tour - TAKE THE FIGHT TO THE BASTARDS out FRI 14 MAR.

Take The Fight To The Bastards is the LAST QUOKKA's in full flight. The recent addition of Dion Mariani (ex The Flairz) joining Justin Zanetic on guitars has pushed the band into riff overdrive. Fuzzed out hooks accompany the relentless rhythm machine that is Carlota Rivera on drums and Ray Grenfell on bass. Resulting in a sonic force that acts as canvas for vocalist Trent Rojahn to spit and sing his sardonic and poignant chunks of poetry over. No piece of Australian culture is left unturned, from anthemic protests against the Cost Of Living crisis to sci-fi-esque resurrection fantasties of extinct megafauna (Thunder Duck), and odes to old country pubs being ruined by tourists (Yankee Satellite) or pubs just being ruined by corporations (Save Our Pubs), the album has something for everyone.

Go George... it just gets more alien every day!

Capitalism as it stands is now over. The idea of incessant growth is a doomed scenario in a finite world. The planetary boundaries are breached. No solution that increases efficiency leading to greater consumption and thus escalated burdens on our natural world will work. The pursuit of astronomical wealth by the addicted few if it continues to it's obvious end burns the planet to a crisp. They know this is over but their pathological aberrance drives them on and on to cliffs of no return. This is our seeming blunted reality unfolding right before us. The plague of the right wing obsession with greed insatiable beyond logic. Time is beyond ripe for change to an evolved state of radical abundance that sits well beyond that of the collapsing material. If we are truly an intelligent life form we will grasp it and fast!

No dynamics or transparency... and question:

When you purchase tickets from some ticketing agencies it gives you the option to pay for insuring the ticket so you can get a full refund. Does that mean if the promoter and ticket outlet are the same company they don’t pay for costly cancellation insurance (for outdoor events especially) but defer the insurance on to the ticket buyer? So in that sense they transfer the responsibility for the show not going ahead. If so is this typical behaviour from corporate entities in the music world or any corporate ticket agency event?

The ongoing denial and ignorance is mind blowing - I didn't hear a single utterance of the phrase "climate change" by the QLD premier and Brisbane Lord Mayor during the cyclone threat. Not once. It is not surprising as it doesn't fit with their aberrant ideology.

The thing is though it is not going to stop and the scale of crisis is only going to increase, the destruction and disruption to life will escalate... and the more it does so the higher the cost of the damage... the higher the cost of insurance gets - and the less they will want to insure the greater the risk becomes. The incapability to comprehend that logic and not be proactive in preparation is stunning in it's absolute stupidity. Might as well stick the proverbial head in the sand pit of fools!

Their greed for power and wealth knows no ends or decency... they know this is all coming to an end so the right bring their might to keep it coming their way like never before. They have started fining the homeless for being homeless... when their right wing inflected economic policies enervates financial distribution thus greater inequality that leads towards more destitution...
They claim insurance companies need to be broken up to bringing down the policy cost when it is their denialist inaction and the increasing international climate crises that is increasing the risk thus inflating the cost - large insurance companies at least can better absorb the financial shocks to some degree. There is nothing positive about their policies for the greater good of society, environment and climate. Stay aware and educated.

I’m far from certain that staying engaged will make a difference. What I do know is that if we all tune out, there’s no hope at all
