Q***r Feminist Day beim Linz International Short Film Festival! 🎉✨ In Kooperation mit dem Frauenbüro Linz und Rainbow City Linz feiern wir vielfältige Stimmen, kraftvolle Geschichten und mutige Kreativität im q***r-feministischen Filmschaffen. Don't miss out on thought-provoking films, panels, and discussions that inspire change and amplify underrepresented perspectives! 💪🎥

The program kicks off with a Masterclass by Nozhat Badi, one of our jury members, where she will explore feminist film criticism and the transformation of cinematic language. 🎥📚 

Next, we move to City Kino Linz for the film screenings, and then return to Kunstuni Linz for a panel, cocktail, and party! 🎉🍸

JURY Linz ISFF 2024: WILTRUD KATHARINA HACKL

Wiltrud Katherina Hackl is a cultural worker, artist, researcher, author, and lecturer. She also organizes events in the fields of art, art and cultural policy, gender politics, and feminism. Hackl completed her studies in Experimental Design in 2001. She worked for nearly 20 years as a journalist for TV, radio, and print media (e.g., ORF, Ö1, Der Standard, DORF TV), as a university assistant, and from 2014 to 2023, she served as the director of the Upper Austrian Society for Cultural Policy. She is currently pursuing her PhD at the University of Art and Design Linz, focusing on constructions of femininity and water through the lens of European water women, and works as a university assistant in the Department of Aesthetics and Pragmatics of Audiovisual Media.

JURY Linz ISFF 2024: KATHARINA FARNLEITNER
Katharina Farnleitner is an Austrian actress who completed her acting studies at MUK Vienna. She has worked in both independent films and in cinema and television productions. On stage, she explores theater and dance. She has performed in productions at Theater Arche Wien and in various plays at Schauspielhaus Wien. Her films have been showcased at renowned festivals, including the Viennale, Diagonale, Sarajevo Film Festival, Max Ophüls Prize Film Festival, and Go Short Film Festival in Nijmegen. Katharina is a versatile artist who captivates audiences with her talent and presence.

JURY Linz ISFF 2024: NOZHAT BADI

Nozhat Badi is an experienced film critic, researcher, and instructor with over two decades of experience in cinema studies, particularly in the areas of feminist film theory. As the Editor-in-Chief of "Cahiers du Féminisme", the first Persian/French website dedicated to feminist perspectives in cinema within the Persian-speaking world, she has been at the forefront of shaping discourse on gender and representation in film. She holds a Master's degree in "Art Research" and has contributed extensively to both Iranian and international film publications. Her work focuses on feminist film theory, challenging patriarchal narratives, and advocating for gender equality in cinema.

Geleitworte der Geschäftsführerin des Tourismusverbands Linz, Marie Louise Schnurpfeil, zum Linz ISFF 2024: "Filme haben die einzigartige Fähigkeit, uns tief zu bewegen, zum Nachdenken anzuregen und uns emotional zu berühren. Besonders Kurzfilme sind meisterhaft darin, Geschichten, Emotionen und Ideen in einer kompakten, intensiven Form zu vermitteln. Filmschaffende nutzen dafür immer wieder innovative und kreative Wege, um ihr Publikum zu überraschen und zu begeistern.

Es ist eine große Freude, dass das Linz International Short Film Festival nun bereits zum siebten Mal in Linz stattfindet. Dieses Festival hat sich als eine bedeutende Plattform für Künstler*innen aus aller Welt etabliert. Besonders der Q***r & Feminist Day setzt in diesem Jahr erneut einen wichtigen Akzent, indem er den Fokus auf feministische Themen und LGBTIQ+-Rechte lenkt.

Das Festival ist mittlerweile ein unverzichtbarer Bestandteil der oberösterreichischen Kulturlandschaft und zieht sowohl Einheimische als auch internationale Filmbegeisterte in die Kinosäle von Linz. Die kontinuierlich steigende Zahl an Einreichungen beim Filmwettbewerb spiegelt die hohe Qualität und das Ansehen des Festivals wider. In diesem Jahr wird eine Neuerung eingeführt: Erstmals werden alle Filme im City-Kino gezeigt, was dem Festival eine noch größere Präsenz in der Stadt verleiht und das Filmerlebnis für die Besucher intensiviert."

The first Linz International Short Film Festival 11-14 October 2018 Moviemento, Linz

The first film festival in Upper Austria, which took place for 4 days, especially for short films in Linz, in the Moviemento from 11-14 October 2018. On an international level, a comparison was made and in the first edition 114 selected short films were screened in 4 categories representing about 40 countries. 29 international and local filmmakers* were invited to the festival.
