VISION: BY 2023 ALL SCHOOL CHILDREN SHOULD HAVE THE MBIRA INSTRUMENTS TO PLAY. BY 2030 ALL ZIMBAWEANS SHOULD OWN A MBIRA INSTRUMENTS TO PLAY.
WE HAVE MANAGED TO DONATE MBIRA INSTRUMENTS IN ALL PRIMARY SCHOOLS IN NORTON...THE JOURNEY HAS ALREADY BEGAN.
1. Objectives
i) To use art as a tool of fighting toward the eradication of poverty, and improve the economic and social welfare of the local communities. We work with regardless of race, colour, creed, religion and Economic background.
ii) Establish an association which works with and caters for artists so they might work at their full potential and realize their vision.
iii) Identify talent and give direction to aspiring artist.
iv) Spearhead the emergence and growth of local art through community based initiatives and entrepreneurial projects.
v) Create a dialog with local and international organisations leading to exchange tours and visits.
vi) Set up annual awareness campaigns and educational perfomances in our our community and neighbouring communities.
vii) To promote and protect the improvement of recognition of African (Zimbabwean) culture through the arts.
2. FUNCTIONS
i) Education β to bring awareness and relevance of the Mbira to the youth with particular attention the β 0-23 and above years age group to reveal to them the spirituality of the Mbira. Lessons on Mbira will be held at the centre and in schools with express permission of the relevant line ministries.
ii) Research β To research the origins of the Mbira how the Mbira was first made the types of mbira first made, the spirit mediums involved by the Mbira. Research to be done in Masvingo, Binga, Zvimba, Mhondoro and Mozambique.
iii) Production β To mass produce the Mbira so that it becomes the instrument of choice just like the cellphone.
iv) Live Shows and Recordings.
To perform live shows in Zimbabwe and the rest of the world to promote the Mbira recording Mbira artists in our equipped studio at the Art Centre.
v) Marketing
Showcasing the Mbira & other visual & performing arts to the world.
