"I had a renewed appreciation of my second novel, The Ties that Bind, after it was performed on stage by the Centre for Talent Development at Theatre in the Park in Harare. I think Thabani Moyo, Philani Nyoni, Gift Chakuvinga and team outdid themselves! It was indeed a moving stage rendition by a prolific cast that touched my heart and made me ask: was it I who wrote this book? The stagecraft was excellent, and some of the innovations in adapting the book for Theatre the work of genius minds! I found the staging of the steamy one-night stand between Lincoln and a young lady of the night he picks in a bar after testing HIV positive the most moving and absorbing of all the scenes! Thank you Centre for Talent Development! It was also great interacting with students studying The Ties that Bind at A-Level.

Chakombera is a new author who writes with the finese of a veteran.

Chakombera says his broader perspective when he wrote the book was to explore the challenges and abuses that women suffered in society although the focus was on his late mother.
