We’re broadcasting Radio Freedom with Santiago Mostyn now on njelele.art/radio!

Amplifying the power of music and what rhythm can do to systems of oppression, Mostyn fuses an amalgamation of pieces of sound and pieces of music from The Library of Things We Forgot To Remember and beyond.

Radio Freedom is taking over our airwaves on 25 May.

Radio Freedom by Kudzanai Chiurai takes its title from ANC revolutionary radio which began as a clandestine station operating in SA in 1963, moving across borders to broadcast from Tanzania, Ethiopia, Madagascar and Zambia from 1964 to 1991. Chiurai’s piece echoes transnational guerrilla radio stations that were pivotal in the building of collective resistance and solidarity in liberation movements.

This Africa Day, tune into sonic registers of liberation in a special broadcast with Santiago Mostyn for Radio Freedom with vinyls and recordings from The Library of Things We Forgot To Remember and beyond… on njelele.art/radio

Wonderful news, Tawanda Appiah is the new curator of Skånes konstförening!
A vital part of Njelele art station, we have been lucky to work and think together for many years. He has generously shared his brilliant mind, keen eye and beautiful words as our incredible editor.

Independent curator, researcher and writer Tawanda recently curated FLIGHT the group show featuring Kudzanai Chiurai, Frida Orupabo and Eric Magassa at Malmo Konsthall. His important work reverberating across the city of Malmö to Harare with a collaborative special broadcast coming soon on njelele.art/radio

It’s 1 May, today is Worker’s Day and marks Njelele’s 10th birthday!
We commemorate this day with gratitude to the late Dr. Job Mtondore Whabira, whose support and love fuelled our work at the station. As our principal patron, he sustained our many years at the Njelele site on Kaguvi Street, from 2013 to 2020. A source of knowledge, wisdom and inspiration, he is greatly missed.

Dr. Whabira, we give thanks🙏🏾
