Mastering sleek styles like low buns or high ponytails has been quite the challenge for me😒. Despite experimenting with a myriad of gels like Eco Styler, Gorilla Snot, and countless others, my hair remains unapologetically resistant likely due to its thick, textured nature. Fellow naturals, particularly my 4C queens, which styling gels have truly stood the test of time for you? I’m looking for a product that provides long-lasting hold while taming my 4C hair.

✨ Healthy hair thrives with a consistent and effective care routine! ✨

Here’s my simple hair care routine:
🌿 Shampoo: Once a week or every two weeks, depending on my hair’s needs.
🌿 Deep Conditioning: A must for every wash day to lock in moisture and strengthen strands.
🌿 Moisturize & Oil: Every other day to keep my hair hydrated and healthy.
🌿 Low Manipulation & Protective Styles: To minimize breakage and promote growth.
🌿 Silk/Satin Essentials: Pillowcases, scarves, or bonnets to protect my hair while I sleep.
🌿 Gentle Styling & Detangling: Because proper handling is key to healthy hair.

And that’s it! Simple but effective. 💁🏾‍♀️

My Hairline Restoration Journey 🌱✨

In November 2024, I experienced a major setback with my hairline after wearing straight-back braids. Though painless at first, my edges became tender after a few days. To my dismay, upon undoing the braids, I discovered significant damage, my edges were virtually gone. 😔

Determined to recover, I embraced patience and consistency. Here’s what I did:
1. Allowed my edges to rest—no tension, no extensions.
2. Nourished them daily with oils and leave-in conditioner, paired with gentle scalp massages.
3. Maintained a clean, healthy scalp to promote regrowth.

Fast forward just 4 weeks, and my hairline is not only restored but thriving! The fullness has amazed me, and I couldn’t be happier with the results. 💪🏾

I tried blow drying my hair on my own for the first time. I used the 3-in-1 hair dryer, styler and volumizer. I also paired the HairDiaries hydrating mist and the Tresseme heat protectant during the process.

When it comes to hair growth, moisturizing is essential. It doesn't matter whether you use the LOC or LCO method to moisturize your hair. What matters is that you’re first hydrating your hair with water and sealing with either a cream or oil. Sealing increases moisture retention and it eliminates dry hair which reduces hair breakage.
