Guess who were our very first visitors????? Zosuliwe Kala all the way from Embassy of Ireland, Pretoria and who brought copies of her new and sizzling album Zaruwe, The Bird Must Fly. We loved the conversations around women leading in tech and the creative economy and what success for us will look like in the next 3 years!!! Onwards!!!

We have not been quiet!!! We have been busy setting up our new home,!!This season, we learnt to pivot and move so that we don't sink!!! The Creative Economy demands for us not to only be creative, but think of sustainable ways to remain open and profitable. Above all, for our Matamba's to thrive.

We have just moved to a new solar and creative powered space, where women will be able to work without much disturbance and create their immersive products for showcase everywhere!!!! We cant wait to have you visit us!!!Super thanks to our friends from Segal Family Foundation and Echoing Green for the support!!!!!

What an awesome Lilongwe day!!!! We got to take people to visit our sister org Chiedza in Harare through VR 360 showcase courtesy of Segal Family Foundation. Awesome feedback, awesome newer ways of sharing our impact full stories!!!! Kudos to Siza Mukwedini and Carron Tambala for working tirelessly to make this film. Epic.

We have been touring Malawi, visiting other Organisations, sharing and learning. Also snuck in a little rest, as we plan and strategise of the Matamba year ahead! Special thanks to for Nations and Media Hub for hosting us!!

Now, all roads lead to Segal Connects Southern Africa 2024 where we intend on meeting other cool organisations doing amazing work in the region!!! We will also be showcasing some cool VR experiences!!!!

A super congrats to Mapondera and for their VR and mixed media installation at the National Gallery of Zimbabwe. Titled The Futuristic Pagan, explains our traditional understanding of dejavu and the magic that dreams are.
Thousands visited the gallery to explore this fantastic showcase and we were proud to support them with VR headsets.

This Women's Month, we launched the DREAMS DIGITAL CAMPAIGN in partnership with PEPFAR. We had an array of really cool products like a 5 part Animation Series, Board Games, Memes and GIFs, Comic Strips and Activity Books!! Centred around the lives of 4 girls somewhere in Zimbabwe, the DREAMS DIGITAL CAMPAIGN aims to promote and support PEPFAR’s initiative for adolescent girls aged from 9 to 14 through easy to understand digital content to empower them to be:
Determined, Resilient, Empowered, AIDS-free, Mentored and Safe (DREAMS). And.... the content will be available through DREAMS Implementing partners as well as for sharing online. You can even download too for you girls 9-14 so they are not left behind. Sharing QR code in the next coming weeks!!!

A huge congratulations to Matamba Film Labs and Dorovee Makerspace for launching the tech Meets Unconventional Fashion Project in Harare and Lilongwe respectively this past weekend!! The Tech meets Unconventional Project is a testament of the transformative power of collaboration. Funded by Hivos' "Tech Meets Unconventional Fashion" initiative, brought together women creatives from different backgrounds to create something truly remarkable. "It was hard work but we made it!!! And now, we look forward to sharing our stop-motion Animation film " Dear Chisomo" with the rest of the world!!

We often think that STEM is mainly for sciences and chemistry etc but often times don't k ow that T is for technology which is a huge part of our daily lives and offers amazing career choices like film and new media production!!!! Happiest of birthdays to Queen Bee aka Kudakwashe Makuzwa aka Boss K. She is the conduit behind Matamba, always making sure we maintain the balance between what makes us creative and how we make money out of it and above all, how we grow... We owe the strong building of our foundations to her. Was not easy but she made sure we did the things to be done, so that we have a strong standing today. Not an easy feat! The creative industry in Zim need a lot of thought and action leaders like you Kuda, who not only talk the talk, but walk the walk and dont give up till we see great results. We are grateful to have you and wish you many more blessed days ahead!!!

The past couple of months have been nothing but hectic in a good good way!!! together with our Sisters from Dorovee we collaborated on a very daring project, Tech meets Unconventional Fashion. Through that, we had to create a story that showed our amazing storytelling skills told in 1. Not only our storytelling skillsm but the story itself had to be something we all resonated with. Our end result, a short stop motion animation film, titled Dear Chisomo... Made from our hands, with love.

Our heads are bowed, as we close the curtains on 2023!!! What an epic journey. Someone asked what our greatest memory for 2023 is.. Well, It has to be the Big Boat and LED screens we put up at the National Gallery of Zimbabwe for Yara Costa Nakhodha and the Mermaid!!! Our Showstopper for the Matamba Immersiv Festival First Edition. It was an honour to work with Yara to bring her Multimedia project to life and an even greater honour to bring it to Zimbabwe all the way from the Isle of Mozambique. We got to be immersed in the lives of maritime fishermen and hear their traditional stories through song and 360 immersive headphones. Wow!! We also got to see walls projected of the sea as it encounters climate change and we got to be immersed in VR headsets and joined the fishermen underwater!!! What an experience. So many people heard about the boat and came from far and wide to witness and experience it. Thank you @ George Tomy and team for bringing this to life, Sombi and the LED team and lastly our dear friends Embassy of Ireland, Pretoria for your support. If you missed don't worry, 2024 is on her way and we have other mind blowing experiences for you. Obrigado and we love you Yara!!!!!!!
