POTRAZ ICT Innovation
Expo 2024
Adrian Mudekunye and Ethan Hinds were among the forty selected applicants from a pool of over 1,000 contenders, as noted by POTRAZ. They showcased their STEM project to a panel of ten industry experts who served as adjudicators. After three days of presentations to various panels, they achieved first place in this national event, which was open to participants of all age groups.
Notably, Adrian and Ethan, both just 15 years old, stood out in a competitive field that included postgraduate students and seasoned research professionals. Their remarkable achievement at one of Zimbabwe’s premier innovation expos is commendable.
Their project, titled Activate Authenticity, is a startup focused on addressing the rising issue of Al-generated misinformation. This cutting-edge software not only combats misinformation but also features the capability to translate sign language into text, effectively bridging communication gaps and promoting inclusivity.
As winners, Ethan and Adrian received a prize of $5,000, which they will reinvest in patenting their project and enhancing it for market readiness.

St George’s T20
Tournament - 2024
Peterhouse participated in the St George’s Smashing Cricket T20 tournament held in the holidays from 29 August to 1 September. Having performed well in the Kingswood College series and warm-up matches the team entered the tournament confident they could retain the trophy for a third year in a row. Unfortunately, it was not meant to be, but true to character, the team did not go down without a fight. We were placed in the
‘group of death’ alongside Wise Owl, St John’s, and CBC. Knowing it was going to be a true test of courage the team notched up a convincing win against CBC before edging out St John’s in a closely fought encounter. From this point, the tournament got away from us as we lost to a formidable Wise Owl team and then performed below par against St George’s before losing to eventual finalists Hellenic. Despite the disappointment of not being able to retain the trophy the team learned some valuable lessons which we hope we will be able to put into practice as we participate in the upcoming St John’s Ram Slam T20 tournament.
Luke Marillier was the standout performer, carrying his bat in two games and scoring 224 runs at an average of 75, earning him the batsman of the tournament award.

The Feast of St. Ignatius of Loyola is one of the most important days on our calendar. On the 31st of July, we marked the day with a whole school mass on Neptune’s lawn followed by a variety of sporting and cultural activities. It was a day full of jubilation for we have a lot to celebrate for the greater glory of God!

In an engaging and hands-on experiment, our enthusiastic 7 North students investigated the presence of starch in leaves. Through a series of carefully planned steps, they observed and analysed the leaves to determine the possible existence of starch. Well done year 7!
