Hichilema promises to employ all volunteers as he commissions Chamboli hospital

PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema has promised to employ all health care volunteers across the country, instructing Health Minister Elijah Muchima to address all pending issues in the health sector.

Speaking when he commissioned the state of the art Chamboli First Level Hospital in Kitwe today, President Hichilema stated that Government remains committed to constructing more hospitals so as to leave room for the employment of all who help out at facilities without being paid.

“We have heard the cries of the volunteers, we will take care of you. Minister, (Muchima) look after these people who are helping us. I assure you that he will employ you. If a nurse can volunteer without being given a job, it’s a sign of commitment, that’s why we will need to give them jobs,” assured President Hichilema.

“You will get employed my friends. Let’s continue working together and let’s work hard so that we [can] take care of our people.”

The President stated that the US$21 million Chamboli Level One Hospital demonstrates the UPND’s manifesto of taking health care services closer to the people.

“The handover of this hospital is a great thing for the people of Chamboli and Wusakile and the whole nation. We talked about giving the best health care services and this is part of the decentralised policy of health facilities so that it is moved closer to the people. We are also taking the judiciary and resources closer to the people. This is our manifesto, our vision,” he said.

“Chamboli is a clear manifestation of our Government’s decentralisation policy. We have a story to tell, this is part of the story of bringing health services closer. This is what we promised, we have the physical building and state of the art equipment. If you look at the diagnostic equipment there, we can now confidently say we will save lives. What we now need to do is to provide medical staff, nurses, paramedics, doctors of differ

The Head of State also commissioned Chimwemwe Level One Hospital, another healthcare facility in Kitwe.

Meanwhile, President Hichilema announced the donation of buses to all public universities, with Mukuba University being the first to receive a bus.

While commissioning the Chamboli Level One Hospital, President Hichilema emphasised the importance of human resources, addressing the concerns of volunteer medical staff.

He acknowledged the commitment of health workers who are volunteering without pay, stating that this demonstrates passion for the profession. The President directed that these volunteers be employed permanently.

"Human resources are critical to running these facilities and saving lives. We've heard the call from volunteer healthcare providers, and I've instructed the Minister of Health to act. If medical staff can volunteer without pay, it shows their dedication, and that is why we need to give them jobs. Be patient, we will employ you," he said.

President Hichilema said facilities like Chamboli are clear manifestations of the government's decentralisation policy, aimed at bringing healthcare services closer to the people.

He also expressed his gratitude to the Japanese government for its commitment, and partnership in various sectors such as the health sector.

And during the commissioning of Chimwemwe Level One Hospital, President Hichilema announced the donation of buses to all public universities across the country.

"I have received the directive. Bally will deliver a bus to all public universities," he said.

President also thanked the British government for its partnership in various sectors, particularly health.

"The relationship between the British people and Zambians is historic, and the health sector is a key part of that. The commissioning of t

HOW TO CONDUCT YOURSELF DURING JOB INTERVIEWS

If you are invited for a job interview, at the entrance of the gate or within the Organization's premises:

1.Politely greet everybody. I have seen MDs and Managers disguise and stand at the gate to observe interviewees.

2. Do not go inside and start charging your phone or begin to look for where to charge your phone.

3. Do not go inside and begin to chat with your phone or make unnecessary calls. Put the phone inside your bag. They could be monitoring you through the camera.

4. Avoid too much talk with fellow interviewees. Don't go there and begin to argue about the government of the day, escalated food prices and even lack of employment opportunities. Just be calm and positive.

5. Don't start praying and speaking in tongues to demonstrate your religiosity and closeness to God. Pray at home before going.

6. If they offer you Tea or food, Please reject it politely and thank them. You can take after the interview. If you take that Tea or food, you are out.

7. Don't chew gum, biscuit or anything. Go with a book and be reading it.

8. Never ever criticise your previous employer.

9. If you see somebody you know in the Organization, either as a staff or a fellow interviewee, greet him officially. Avoid creating an impression that you know him.

10. Do not appear too Poor, helpless and inferior before the interviewer. Forget about Zambia's problems, your personal and family problems. Focus on the job.

11. After the interview, put up a smiling face, thank them and leave.

In most cases, interviewers assess and score interviewees by the factors above and not necessarily by the answers they provide on paper. They'll train you eventually to do the job if they employ you.

Good morning

A situation at Mopani Copper Mines: Mufurila and Kitwe Sites
1. Only Mopani Direct Permanent employees are getting paid.
2. Contractors like;
- Reliant Zambia
-Timaja Drilling
- Opermin Zambia Limited
- Tauro Mining
ETC,
have not got paid their monthly salaries for over 6 moths. the contractors used to pay the workers using their pocket monies for a few months but can no longer manage. as we speak, Normal operations have been halted.
Results are that;
1. workers are being told to go home, to be called back when things normalise.
What are they going to be eating?
Other Contractors ( smaller ones ) at Mindola Mine alone like;
1. JM&J
2. Seven Two Two Investments
3. Shamuchisha
4. Chimwenda Investments
5. Molencia Investments
6. Rechi Investments
Have not got paid their salaries for about three months now. The money they paid their workers in the first month was just borrowed and now debtors can no longer give debts to contractors from Mopani Copper Mines saying it currently have a blured future.
Yes, the UPND government is said to be working but when you come to the mines, the mines minister Hon. Paul Kabuswe seems not to be representing the miners the way we hoped. If you can talk about those who played a very big role from the Copperbelt then 3/4 of those are miners plus their rwlations because we had faith in the promises that president HH gave the us when he was in the opposition.
We have hope that things will get better but for how long shall we wait? we are losing our jobs as we speak from the mines. if our able government looked into the issue of unemployed teachers and health workers then it is high time you also looked into the issues of Mopani which is dying dreastically.
Lastly, Sanitech (contractor company) is currently removing mobile toilets from underground because they are not receiving their wages. if not careful, a negative health crisis is about to break out soon because workers will be easing themselves in the drainage r
