TTS FOUNDATION CLARIFIES ITS MISSION, DENIES BEING A POLITICAL MOVEMENT.

By Chanda Chilebe Libuku

Tilas Titus Sichinga Foundation, fondly known as TTS, a Ndola-based non-governmental organization, has clarified that the foundation is not a political movement but a charitable organization.

Speaking today on Radio Chimwemwe's "Know Your Leader" programme, Foundation National Coordinator Lee Sememba has stated that the foundation aims at giving back to the community.

Mr. Sememba has explained that the foundation, which is headed by the Director Titus Sichinga, who was born and raised in Kabushi constituency, decided to start giving back to the community through various charitable works.

Meanwhile, TTS Director in charge of Transport and Logistics, Mwaba Mumba, has stated that a foundation is different from a political party, adding that if Mr. Sichinga intends on standing as an aspiring member of parliament in the 2026 generals, he should first resign from the foundation.

He has stated that currently, Mr. Sichinga is here to help out vulnerable people in the community.

FAZ APPOINTS HAUPTLE AS NEW COPPER QUEENS COACH

The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has appointed Swiss national Nora Hauptle as Copper Queens coach on a three year deal.
FAZ General Secretary Reuben Kamanga says Hauptle had been hired to consolidate on the gains made in the women’s game.

“We are excited to announce the appointment of Nora Hauptle as the new Zambia Women National Team coach. We have every reason to believe that she has the pedigree and profile that will take us to the next level,” says Kamanga.
“Her duty is to consolidate on the gains made in our women’s game in the last few years that has seen us win bronze at the WAFCON, qualify to a maiden FIFA World Cup in 2023 and back-to-back Olympic qualifications.”

The former Swiss defender is expected to be unveiled soon.

The new Copper Queens coach had a distinguished career as a defender in Europe and represented Switzerland at international level before retiring in 2009.

She took up coaching and notably drilled SC Sand in the German Frauen-Bundesliga, in 2020, where she was, at the time, the only female coach in the league. Hauptle left SC Sand in 2021 before being appointed Black Queens coach in 2022.
Kamanga says Hauptle’s predecessor Bruce Mwape will be re-assigned in a different capacity in the developmental teams.
“We also wish to thank Bruce Mwape for the work done since his appointment in 2018 which has seen the team qualify to the World Cup and two Olympics (Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024). He remains a core member of our wider technical development program as we secured a CAF Pro License course for him as part of our collaboration with the Royal Morocco Federation. He will become the second Zambian coach to undertake the CAF Pro License after Wedson Nyirenda,” he says.

The Copper Queens have already qualified for the 2024 WAFCON (to be played in July 2025) that takes place in Morocco.

COPPERBELT MINISTER DENIES LAND SCANDAL ALLEGATIONS

Copperbelt Province Minister Elisha Matambo has denied allegations suggesting his involvement in selling and demarcating land in Katondo area of Munkulungwe ward in Bwana Mkubwa.

Speaking alongside Minister of Lands and Natural Resources Sylvia Masebo, former Lands and Natural Resources Minister Elijah Muchima, Bwana Mkubwa Member of Parliament Warren Mwambazi, and other senior Government officials, Mr. Matambo denied the allegations, stating he owns no plot in the area.

He claimed his last visit was to assist residents whose houses were threatened with demolition by a private investor.

Mr. Matambo emphasized that the allegations circulating in some media outlets are baseless and aimed at tarnishing his reputation, urging citizens to disregard them.

The Copperbelt minister reaffirmed his commitment to supporting citizens by standing with them against unlawful demolitions.

Meanwhile, Lands and Natural Resources Minister Sylvia Masebo implored community members and officials to refrain from discussing the matter, as it is currently before the courts.

She assured that once the case is concluded, the government will address the concerns of the affected people.

MAPALO WARD COUNCILOR URGES TRADERS TO USE COUNCIL ABUTION BLOCK

Ndola's Mapalo ward councilor, Luckson Chisenga, has encouraged traders and customers at Mapalo A market to use the council ablution block at the facility.

Speaking in an interview, Mr. Chisenga, who is also Ndola Deputy Mayor, stated that many traders avoid using the facility because it is a fee-paying toilet, and instead, they use toilets from nearby bars.

Mr. Chisenga noted that in some instances, people go to nearby shops that are non-operational, causing a serious health risk.

The civic leader said that the Ndola City Council has been engaged on the matter to ensure that strategies are put in place to prevent the situation from becoming a breeding ground for diseases related to poor sanitation.
