Lusaka woman stabs lover to death with beer bottle after altercation

A FRIDAY night of fun and boozing turned bloody for two lovers as their altercation led to the death of 25-year-old at a bar in Chipata Overspill Compound.

The victim, Emmanuel Lungu, was allegedly stabbed with a broken bottle by his girlfriend, 30-year-old Brenda Mulenga, during an argument at the GT Bar around 22:00 hours.

According to police reports, Lungu sustained cuts to his head, elbow, cheek, and lip.

He was initially taken to the North Gate Police Post for a medical report before being transported to Chipata Level One Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The broken bottle believed to be the murder weapon has been recovered by police and will be used as evidence.

Police spokesperson Rae Hamoonga confirmed the incident.

"The suspect, Brenda Mulenga, has been detained in custody, and a docket of the case has been opened," Hamoonga stated.

"We urge the public to remain calm and allow the police to carry out a thorough investigation. We extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased during this difficult time."

Mummy, uncle slept with me, 7 year old reports

ONE of a mother’s nightmare and greatest fear for her child is for their offspring to experience adulthood at the wrong time.

Unfortunately, this was the reality of a mother in Lusaka’s Chipata overspill compound after she discovered that her daughter aged 7 was defiled by a 37-year-old man.

What made it even more painful was knowing that the perpetrator was not someone far, but a person that was well known to the family.

While the world celebrated mother's day on Sunday and some went about their days to fulfil their religious obligations, the victim's mother noticed her child walking with uneasiness.

Following up her curiosity and motherly instincts, she questioned the little girl with hopes of a response such, "I fell while playing," the little girl said the opposite.

She informed her mother that earlier in the day, around 14:00 hours, a man in their neighborhood picked her and took her to an unfinished house just near their home, and had carnal knowledge of her.

Hearing the report, the heartbroken mother, believed her child’s story, worked with the evidence of her visible abuse, and reported the matter to police.

Police officers then rushed the victim to the hospital, while remained looking for the suspect, who was later found and apprehended.

Police deputy spokesperson, Danny Mwale confirmed the incident and the detention of the suspect.

“The victim is undergoing medical examinations while the suspect is detained in custody waiting to be charged,” said Mwale.
