VEEP TOURS DRAINAGE WORKS IN KANYAMA

Her Honour, the Vice President of the Republic of Zambia, Mrs. Mutale W.K. Nalumango, accompanied by the Disaster Management and Mitigation (DMMU) National Coordinator Dr. Gabriel Pollen, Kanyama Member of Parliament, Hon. Monty Chinkuli and officials from the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development, the Ministry of Water and Sanitation and the Lusaka City Council, today conducted an inspection tour of the ongoing construction of drainage system projects in Kanyama.

The entourage first toured works on the Lady Diana and Kalusha Bwalya Drainages before proceeding to tour works along 70/70 road.

And the Vice President expressed satisfaction with works done so far.

She commended the collaborative efforts existing among various government line ministeries and contractors involved in the works.

Mrs. Nalumango emphasizes the importance of such projects in mitigating flooding and improving road infrastructure in flood-prone areas like Kanyama.

Her Honour further noted that these developmental projects will not only enhance mobility and flood management but also improve the quality of life for residents as diseases such as cholera and other water-borne diseases will be reduced.

The vice president reaffirmed the government’s commitment to prioritizing infrastructure development, particularly in areas like Kanyama.

Kanyama constituency is eligible to proper garbage and waste management.

In some parts of the constituency, garbages are not collected from households hence leading to mis - appropriate disposal like into roads and other areas.
If we are really to fight diseases such as cholera we need to consider proper disposal of garbage around the Kanyama constituency.
