HEAVY RAINS AND STRONG WIND DESTROY HOUSES AND TWO CLASSROOM BLOCKS IN GWEMBE DISTRICT
Over 20 houses have had their roofs brown off while others have collapsed following the heavy downpour that occurred in various wards of Gwembe District.
The storm also ripped off the roof of two classroom blocks including the newly constructed 1X3 classroom block at Munyumbwe Primary School.
Gwembe Town Council Chairperson Collet Ndhlovu who inspected the destroyed structures said the disaster happened on Tuesday.
Mr. Ndhlovu noted that the damage would disturb the learners as they will be forced to share the limited classrooms available.
He has since directed Engineering Department to urgently engage the contractor to work on the structure before it is too late.
Mr. Ndhlovu expressed regret over the loss of property which has caused several families to spend their nights in the cold.
He has further appealed to well-wishers to urgently intervene and provide relief and assistance to the victims.

Chipo can you stand up, can you face the crowd this side. Does she look pregnant that young lady? Honestly speaking, we better grow up as a nation right. We really need to grow up,” - President Hakainde Hichilema.
