GAMESTER SUES BOLABET FOR K780,000

A GAMBLER of George Township has sued Bolabet Zambia, a sports betting company, demanding payment of almost K800,000 which the firm allegedly withdrew from his account without his consent despite winning the cash.

Isaac Chipulu has gone to the Lusaka High Court demanding payment of K780,000 in respect of an outstanding balance owed to him, citing Bolabet Zambia as the defendant.

Immediately after the games [were] played [on] Saturday night, the plaintiff received a confirmation on his phone notifying him to have won K800,000

ZESCO TALKS NEW FEES

The Energy Regulation Board (ERB) has set today (October 3, 2022) as the date for a public hearing in Lusaka regarding Zesco Limited’s application to revise connection fees upwards.

Last May, Zesco submitted to ERB that electricity connection fees for one phase overhead should now cost K4,600, from K769 for customers in high density areas, while those in low density areas should be charged K13,300, from K2,873, with customers in undemarcated high density areas paying K7,000 from K1,709.

In a notice issued on Friday, ERB states that the public hearing will be held following receipt of submissions from stakeholders arising from advertisements placed in the media by the board, calling for comments on Zesco’s application.

“In addition to the above, kindly note that only members of the public who made written submissions in response to the ERB’s call for comments will be allowed to address the board.

Truck Drivers at Kasumbalesa Border have vowed to continue with the stand off until they are addressed by President Hakainde Hichilema and his Congolese counterpart Félix Antoine Tshisekedi over their safety concerns. The truck drivers have been complaining of being harrassed once they crossover to the Congo DR.

Sometimes we feel justified to abuse other people because we have good reasons. We feel it is okay to b certain individuals because they are rude or not polished enough for our liking. We feel justified to throw stones at those we don’t agree with because it somehow feels cool to do.

I do hope one day we will sit and realize how unfair and unkind we have been to my brother Yo Maps and his family. I pray that it will be soon before the worst happens. He is a young man trying to build his life and a family yet surrounded by the negativity that would damage his perception of life.

We all feel we can say anything we feel about him and his wife simply because he is a public figure. We demand for a level of morality from him that we’ve never demanded from priests. We demand from him the temperament of a priest and wisdom of the Dalai Lama because he is public figure. Because we know his songs we expect him to be a super being.

We have b him, his family and those close to him and we feel happy about it. We don’t expect him to be affected by our negative comments and posts…. Because he is a public figure. We don’t expect him to breakdown emotionally because we stream his music. We can call him anything because without our support he is nothing. I genuinely hope that we will be able to realize how much damage we are doing to this brilliant young man. It may be fashionable now to spill negativity on the artist and everyone doing it is a hero, wait until it becomes a culture.

Yo Maps my brother, be kind to yourself. Your mistakes are not different from our mistakes. We all have failed at one thing or the other. It is unfortunate that we expect your life to be as perfect as your voice. Take your time, protect your happiness and change where necessary.

HE WRITES:

Congratulations to the Patriotic Front for retaining the Luangwa Council Chairmanship by election. This is a democracy that offers two faces of the coin; a triumph or a loss.

A losing athlete will get an opportunity to ask tough questions and most importantly will embark on a rigorous training regime promising a better performance in the next competition.

That so much anxiety has been expressed by alot of our supporters over the result regarding a Council by election, is a testament of how the quality of our democracy has grown. It also underscores the view that every election at every level is important.

To our supporters, don't despair, vala jombo and go and sell our party and its programmes to the outermost parts of our country. At the end of it all, democracy has won.

Over 5 boys have been sodomised by senior boys at a Muslim school in Chongwe.

The boys who are in grade 4 and 5 have revealed that the act has been going on for the past two years they have been at the school.

It is believed that an elderly Indian man who was residing in the school premises was sodomising some older boys who learnt the act and started doing it on the younger pupils.

The victims and the perpetrators are currently being questioned by police in Lusaka.

EX-CONVICT JAILED TWO YEARS FOR ‘DISPLAYING’ MANHOOD TO PUPILS AT KASAMA GIRLS SCHOOL

The Kasama Magistrates Court has sentenced a 38-year-old ex-convict of Nakonde district in Muchinga Province to two years in jail with hard labour for indecent curiosity while ma********ng to female pupils of Kasama Girls Secondary School.

Facts of the matter are that on 8th November, 2021, Simwanza stood on an anthill outside the school wall fence and started calling the girls who were inside the school premises by a hand gesture while showing off his manhood but the pupils
ignored him by running for their safety.

It was at this point that the girls rushed to inform the school authority and the security guards about what Simwanza was doing.

The school authorities then rushed to the anthill and apprehended Simwanza.

In mitigation, the ex-convict pleaded with the Court to exercise leniency on him stating that he recently finished serving a prison sentence.

However, Magistrate Joe Samboko says that he has heard the plea, therefore a two-year sentence with hard labour slapped on the ex-convict was appropriate.

Simwanza is serving his prison sentence at Milima Correctional Facility in Kasama district of Northern Province.
