Before the grand finale of the 2012 Nigerian Idol, every rational mind knew Mercy Chinwo was going to emerge the Idol of that season.

It was for her sake, I picked great interest in the music contest.

From the day I saw Mercy perform, I never missed any session of that season.

After a breathtaking performance of Fela's Zombie track at the grand finale, Charly Boy, one of the judges was so dazzled that he doffed his hat for Mercy.

And he said - 'Mercy, the journey has just begun. Whether you or Joe Blue wins, from today, both of you are my children. Thank you! Thank you'!

Jeffery Daniels, another judge said something striking.

"Be ready for the world, because the world is ready for you', he told Mercy.

For Yinka Davies, yet another judge, she couldn't contain her excitement.

Mercy won Joe Blue and walked home with grand prize of N7.5m, recording contract and SUV.

For such a talent, I find it difficult to understand how one can justifiably say he made her, five years after.

Whatever happened between Mercy Chinwo and Eezee Conceptz was mutually beneficial. And both should be grateful to each other.

Mercy offered an irresistible talent, Eezee Conceptz offered the platform.

Both benefitted. Nobody should seek to perpetually exploit or manipulate the other.

Nobody made the other.

The Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation has reported that The Zambezi River Authority (ZRA) says water levels in Lake Kariba are steadily increasing due to sustained rainfall on the reservoir and immediate catchment.

The Authority reports that the reservoir has shown an improvement in lake levels as of January 6th, recording 477.28 cubic meters of water. This is in comparison to 477.14 cubic meters recorded on December 24th, 2024.

This represents a 12.32 percent increase from 11.34 percent in the said period.
