The Long Walk; Hichilema's journey with the poor Zambian children; giving them hope and permanent future of equality

His vision is to see every Zambian child have an equal opportunity to attain an education that will equalize their potential with those of the rich.

Using his story of vulnerability and later the support to study at the University of Zambia, all the way from the villages of Bweengwa by the Government of KK, President Hakainde Hichilema is moving with all the children of the poorest, the orphans and children of widow, heading to the future of hope.

In his over 15yrs in opposition, Hichilema insisted and continued to challenge Zambians that,he would implement the free education policy immediately when he was voted into office;this was the first huge step the President took after his swearing-in.

Doomsayers rubbished his stance, then in the opposition stating that it was mere political rhetoric and that the increase in the Zambian population and the demand for education would collapse the treasury, thereby making it impossible for any President to offer free education from primary to secondary level; Hichilema has shown the world that Zambia can be an example.

Today, President Hichilema, despite having found an empty Treasury,an enormous debt mountain and technically a dead Economy, his vision to see every Zambian child has an equal opportunity to attain an education that will equalize their potential with those of the rich lives on.

Today, President Hichilema, despite having found an empty Treasury,an enormous debt mountain and technically a dead economy,His Excellency has sent back over 2 million Zambian children who had dropped out of school due to failure to meet costs back to school.

The legacy Hichilema has imprinted will never be erased and its indelibility will majorly be felt in generations to come.

The boy who came from Bweengwa, barefooted,is today the hope of every poor Zambian child, including some immigrants accessing education in Zambia coming from all corners of the world.

Blessed is the womb that carried you Mr President and blessed of the Zambian soil to have received and given you life to this day!

Talk about jobs...
Talk about empowerment
Talk about sanity in the country. .....
Talk about the rule of law....
Talk about debt restructuring that would consume every national asset lenders....

Blessed is the barefooted child from Bweengwa who came to liberate other poor Zambian children

The future is in the present......

DESTRUCTION HITS CHAMA PROVINCIAL STEM SCHOOL.

By Widson Nkhata

Heavy rains and strong winds have left a trail of destruction at Chama Provincial STEM school in Chama District.

This follows the heavy rains and strong winds that recently hit Chama District, resulting in over 100 houses being blown off.

Chama Provincial STEM school Headteacher, Mr. Mabvuto Banda, expressed his sadness over the destruction caused by the heavy rains.

Mr. Banda says the school's perimeter wall fence suffered significant damage, with 83 fence panels collapsing.

He says one of the school's workers' houses was badly damaged after a tree fell on it. Fortunately, no one was in the house at the time.

Mr. Banda says other rooms in the house suffered severe damage, leaving essential food items like rice and maize soaked.

He said the school's generator room's roof was partially torn off, worsening the devastation.

Several dormitories and classrooms sustained damage to windows and roofs.

Meanwhile, Mr Banda told Kwenje Radio News crew that an assessment will be done in order to determine the extent of the damage at the school.

Relevant authorities, including District Commissioner's office officials, DEBS representatives, and Council staff, led by Council Chairperson Gift Kumwenda, visited the school to assess the situation and gather firsthand information.

Dear Parents, Brothers, and Sisters,

As I continue to share my vision for improving waste management practices, I want to outline how I will support markets, bus stations, and taxi operators in Kitwe. If elected Mayor in 2026, I will prioritize these essential areas to ensure they thrive for the benefit of our local economy.

In alignment with the Markets and Bus Stations Act No. 7 of 2007, which governs their establishment and regulation in Zambia, I pledge to maintain these facilities at high standards, preventing disease and enhancing security. My leadership will focus on environmental sustainability through effective waste management and energy-efficient initiatives, aiming for accountability and inclusivity in all our efforts.

Together, with the support of our community, we can create vibrant, resilient markets and transport hubs that will drive Kitwe’s growth. Your vote is a vote for progress and a brighter future for our city.

LUSAKA DISTRICT
Lusaka, 6th November 2024

Reported By: Open Development media.

The 2024 Ngoma Awards, set to celebrate Zambia’s artistic achievements, received a vital boost at its launch event held at Taj Pamodzi Hotel. The Muvombo Development Initiative (MDI) played a central role in securing funding for the awards, presenting a cheque of K200,000 to support the event.

Winter Muvombo, Managing Director of MDI, expressed the organisation's unwavering commitment to Zambia’s youth and the arts. "MDI may be young, but our dedication to empowering the next generation is strong. Supporting the Ngoma Awards is part of our ongoing effort to create opportunities for young Zambians in arts and sports," said Muvombo during the cheque presentation.

The Ngoma Awards, which are set to take place later this year, aim to provide a platform for recognizing and promoting the creative talents of Zambians. MDI’s contribution, alongside other key sponsors like Vedanta (USD 100,000), Gatbro International Limited (K250,000), Stanbic Bank (K85,000), Zambian Breweries (K75,000 in stock), and Best Life Insurance (K20,000), has helped secure the necessary funding to bring this event to life.

As a young organisation, MDI’s involvement in the Ngoma Awards launch shows its dedication to supporting Zambia’s artistic community, furthering the government’s efforts to foster creativity and youth empowerment.

Yesterday evening, we held a productive and engaging meeting at State House with a diverse group of organizations of Persons with Disabilities. The Forum provided an invaluable opportunity to hear firsthand about the experiences, challenges, and aspirations of our citizens living with disabilities.

We were deeply inspired by the unity, resilience, and clarity of purpose expressed by these organizations as they outlined their vision for the future.

We were also encouraged to learn that the New Dawn Government’s efforts to uplift the living standards of citizens with disabilities have had a meaningful and positive impact on their lives.

We however recognize that there is still more work to be done to further enhance their social well-being, and therefore remain committed to collaborating as one team to address these remaining challenges, ensuring that our policies and actions support a truly inclusive and empowered society for all.

President of the Republic of Zambia.

INDIA-ZAMBIA PARTNERSHIP REACHES NEW HEIGHTS WITH 60 YEARS OF DIPLOMATIC TIES

Reported by: S. Ernest.
Date: 6th November, 2024.
Location: Lusaka, Zambia.

The India-Zambia Joint Permanent Commission (JPC) concluded its 46th session today in Lusaka, marking six decades of deep-rooted diplomatic relations. This historic session, led by Zambia's Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Honourable Mulambo Haimbe and India’s Minister of State for External Affairs, Honourable Kirti Vardhan Singh, celebrated both nations' shared history and highlighted new avenues for cooperation.

Addressing the session, Hon. Haimbe praised the enduring friendship between Zambia and India, which began in the post-independence era and has grown stronger through collaborative efforts in trade, education and technology. He acknowledged India’s continued support, particularly in developmental projects and humanitarian aid, emphasising the recent provision of 2,500 metric tonnes of maize from India to Zambia to aid in the ongoing food security efforts.

Hon. Singh commended the Zambian government, led by President Hakainde Hichilema’s New Dawn administration, for fostering an environment conducive to economic growth and investment. He highlighted India's commitment to supporting Zambia’s sustainable development goals, with plans for a 400-megawatt solar power plant in partnership with India’s National Thermal Power Corporation.

The session concluded with a renewed commitment from both countries to explore further collaboration in areas like health, agriculture, and renewable energy. Hon. Singh emphasised, “This 60-year milestone signifies not only our shared past but a promising future for both India and Zambia.” The JPC’s successful discussions reinforce the New Dawn Government’s focus on progressive international alliances to bolster Zambia’s development agenda.
