(LIVINGSTONE): The streets of Maramba township in Livingstone are bustling in excitement. The occasion is the 2024 Southern Agriculture and Commercial Show with it's main artist Vincent Daka famously known for his stage name Vincenzo.

The show is organized by Southern Tourism, Agriculture and Commercial Society (STACS) and was scheduled to run from 27th June to 2nd July 2024.

Exhibitors had by the official opening day converged at the stadium to showcase their products and services. NAPSA emerged best exhibitors snatching the award away from ZRA who won the accolade last year.

The Guest of honour Southern Province Permanent Secretary Dr Namani Monze in a speech read on his behalf by Deputy Permanent Secretary Yolanta Katampe said Government is planning on turning Zambia into an agricultural hub in Southern Africa by 2027.

Entertainment is the magnet that attracts people to Agriculture Commercial Shows and this year's event was not different as musicians turned up to put a show.

Afro traditional dance pop star Vincenzo Mbale was the main artist, flanked by a group of local based musicians such as Zeck Dizzy, Sky Empire, Edma, K Nine and many others. The Beer President, as he is fondly known by his followers came along with Chipata musical powerhouse Chile 84 who sent the parked to the rafters Maramba Stadium into pure joy as he performed his hit song ALILA WINA.

Among the songs performed by the man of the day Vincenzo was SMART DRINKER as he sent the massage that a smart drinker does not drink so much beer to an extent of depleting all the resources.

A bottle of liquor in the sky was the trend as Vincenzo performed ONE COLD ONE; the massage being it is better to drink a bottle of one cold drink beer than to commit su***de when subjected to economic hardships.

Vincenzo said the show was his second biggest audience.

ZNS MEALIE MEAL SOLD AT K280 IN LIVINGSTONE

By Frontline News Reporter

The New dawn government has through the Zambia National Service (ZNS) established a Milling plant the Eagles brand Mealie Meal.

As a mitigating factor to the skyrocketing prices of Mealie Meal in the country the Eagles brand has been selling at lower prices. Breakfast K25g has been selling at K280 whereas Roller MEAL as low as K150.

However Business entities have been defying government by exploiting the consumers and selling the brand at exorbitant prices.

In Livingstone, a check by Frontline News has revealed that 25 Kg of the Eagles brand is selling at K280 while Roller MEAL is selling at K150.

Meanwhile Government has placed a ban on reselling and bulk purchasing the Eagles brand Mealie Meal.

Republican Vice President Mutale Nalumango said in parliament that it was forbidden to resell the Eagles brand Mealie Meal.

She added that consumers were only allowed to purchase the Mealie Meal one-bag at once.

Hence it was perplexing that business entities were purchasing in bulk and subsequently resale at exorbitant prices.
