Meet first female cable jointer at Zesco
Breaking gender stereotypes in the engineering field as the first female cable jointer and overhead lines woman at Zesco, Misozi Banda, stands as a symbol of resilience and determination.
At 49, Ms Banda serves as the head of the overhead lines department at Zesco Training Centre, Zambia’s power utility.
Ms Banda has transitioned from being a resident of a remote village in Lundazi district to becoming the first woman to teach technical subjects at Zesco Training Centre, and being a mentor to future female engineers.

Kalemba reports that Lusaka's Kamwala Secondary School bus along with the headteachers office have been burnt to ashes hours after Grade 12 candidates completed their final examinations.

The property was torched in the early hours of today and although no-one saw the arsonists, many blame the incident on delinquent former pupils.
