FOOD FOR THOUGHT! ππΎππΎ
THERE IS MONEY TO MAKE BY DISTRIBUTING YOUR MUSIC ON MAJOR DIGITAL PLATFORMS! - DANNY TSG.
People tend to ask me, do you make money off having your music on Spotify, Boomplay, Deezer, Apple Music, YouTube....? etc..
My answer is ABSOLUTELY YES! Those numbers you see are from SALES, STREAMS and SOCIAL MEDIA IMPRESSIONS. Just take a look at my recent addition to the family of content - Lesa Nampala. When you make a hit song, the numbers won't lie. Working with Maps, Yango, Director Lo and The Beatbanger was definitely a game-changer!
So coming back to these major digital platforms, the progress I have had never happened overnight. My goal was always to have a strong catalogue that can keep people coming back. In just 5years I have dropped:
1. Cut It Down For Me (2019) - Mixtape
2. Life in Words (2020) - Album
3. Cut in Down For Me (Matrimony) (2021) - Album
4. Gospel Uno (EP) - 2022
5. Good Vibes (EP) - 2023
6. A number of singles
All these releases were deliberate and strategic. They feature a wide range of big artists and international producers. But guess what, you the consumers were still not benefiting from the product (music) that I was offering.
So what I now needed to do is up my game with marketing my content to a broader audience. That meant I was not only going to have an exclusive Christian audience but needed to tap into the mainstream audience.
I came up with a strategy to remix songs and jump on open verses. That was successfully done by winning most of the open verse challenges that have been done in the past 3years countrywide. Won countless of them and an impact has been made which translated to more people streaming the readily available content.
Over the years, I grew from trying to make a hit song to just making music for my core audience and newly found mainstream audience. That has been a major help and years later I can boldly say that the music is definitely paying off.
The recent banger - 'Lesa Nampala' just paved the way for more people to get plugged into more music that covers a wide range of genres.
So with this minimal information shared, my encouragement goes out to you fellow artists who still don't have your music out there. What are you waiting for? Get in touch with Abel Black ZM nangu Kb Killa Beats and they will help you have things in order.
If you fail to reach the two, hit me up on my business line - +260974097671 and I will help you through my assistant get set up. All you need is some money depending on the package you want, your email and your music.
Also, in a country like Zambia where it is hard to withdraw your earnings, I will advise you on how I have done it in the past.
Never get it twisted, you don't need a major record label to benefit from the fruit of your labour. Major labels just help you grow your capacity and reach a wider audience, but even major labels need people who are worth investing in. Also, major labels get to do all this work for you but in a way that benefits them as well. So if you are not independent and they do all this for you, you get to split earnings.
So in whatever season you are in, my advice to you is to get your music on these platforms. You can use Tunecore, Distrokid, Africori, nayambi nayambi. The goal is to get your music into market place even if it is one person listening. If you create good content that one person will recommend you to others and your listeners will grow. Moreover, in a world like ours, you can use platforms like Tiktok to reach people who will then become loyal fans.
I STRONGLY ENCOURAGE YOU AS A CREATIVE TO MAKE YOUR MUSIC READILY AVAILABLE ON MAJOR DIGITAL PLATFORMS.
Yours Truly!
- Danny TSG Humayne.
