5 things to do and not do this starting academic year.

𝑷𝒓𝒊𝒐𝒓𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒛𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒔𝒕𝒖𝒅𝒚 𝒕𝒊𝒎𝒆.

No matter how busy we are, our study time should always be respected. Which means we shouldn’t entertain any visitations or invites during this time. Some students will want to visit you after they themselves have studied.

𝘽𝒆𝙡𝒊𝙚𝒗𝙞𝒏𝙜 𝙞𝒏 𝒐𝙪𝒓𝙨𝒆𝙡𝒗𝙚𝒔 𝒏𝙤 𝙢𝒂𝙩𝒕𝙚𝒓 𝒘𝙝𝒂𝙩.

No course is impossible to clear. If plan A is not working try out a different strategy. Always have the confidence that you’ll eventually make it.

𝑾𝒆 𝒔𝒉𝒐𝒖𝒍𝒅𝒏’𝒕 𝒃𝒆 𝒕𝒐𝒐 𝒄𝒐𝒐𝒍 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒂𝒄𝒂𝒅𝒆𝒎𝒊𝒄𝒔

We have students that don’t want to study from the classes because they don’t want their friends seeing them study. Others can’t go hours studying because they don’t want to come out as serious students. It’s each one for himself in the exam, studying should be taken seriously and respected.

𝑮𝒐𝒂𝒍 𝒊𝒔 𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒕𝒐 𝒃𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒃𝒆𝒕𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒏 𝒐𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒔.

Wanting to pass alone shouldn’t be the case anymore. We are all fighting to be successful one day which may require collective effort. If your friend is not doing well then you pick them up. If your friend is doing well then you learn from them. No man is an island.

𝑫𝒐𝒏’𝒕 𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒈𝒆𝒕 𝒘𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒇𝒓𝒐𝒎.

Chilling everyday or every weekend is not for everyone. Going out on a Friday might help with relieving the stress but it doesn’t mean you are missing out if you are not taking part. Not everyone is coming from a rich background, don’t be a blind follower, stay true to your values.

What would be the solution to the long queues during the registration process ? Especially that CBU is the number one university in Zambia.

When they spoke of her they said, “She was too rude, too bossy, too prideful.” Little did they know that when she was a kid she was constantly bullied by her peers and overlooked at by her own family. Believing herself more and becoming too confident was the only way to overcome her childhood low self-esteem.

When they spoke of him they said, “He only smokes and drinks, he is good for nothing.” Little did they know that the boy grew up in a very abusive home and was introduced to drugs at a tender age by his parents. The boy never knew what love or peace were so he grew up finding them in a beer bottle.

When they spoke of him they said, “He works for a good company and yet after all these years he hasn’t even managed to buy a car and still stays with his parents.” Little did they know that the man was a bread winner for his extended family and that most of his salary was shared amongst his siblings so they could finish their education as well.

When they spoke of her they said, “She is mentally ill, she talks and laughs too much.” Little did they know that the girl has been suffering from depression since childhood and her talking and laughing too much was a way to cope with it as she attempted to run away from her own thoughts.

When they spoke of her they also said, “She wasn’t raised right, she has no values.” Little did they know that when she had no money to pay her college tuition fee her single mother forced her to start going out with older men as a way to raise her fees. At a tender age she was convinced it was the only way for her to obtain her degree.

We are a product of different pasts and we need each other to heal. Don't judge someone just because they sin differently than you. Don't judge someone who fails a test you yourself have yet to pass. Don't judge someone until you've crawled into his skin and walked around a bit. You can never understand someone’s behavior until you hear them out.
