Nsingo Ward Councilor in Chipata Urges Residents to Reject Current Leaders in 2026 Elections.
Nsingo Ward Councilor in Luangeni Constituency, of Chipata District, Frank Phiri, has urged residents NOT to vote for current leaders in the upcoming 2026 general elections in Luangeni.
In an interview with Breeze News, Mr. Phiri criticized the current leadership, describing them as "a team of jokers" who are not committed to addressing the people's pressing issues.
Mr. Phiri expressed concern over the ongoing economic challenges and the looming food insecurity due to the prolonged dry spell, stating that leaders have failed to engage with the public to find solutions to these problems.
He emphasized the importance of learning from the head of state, his cabinet, and traditional leaders who regularly consult with their communities to understand and address their challenges.
The councilor also pointed out that many ward development committee chairpersons are not meeting the expectations of the people, and that the current leaders lack the ability to inspire or lead their communities effectively.

Albinism Foundation of Zambia Reports an increase in Cancer Cases Among People with Albinism.
The Albinism Foundation of Zambia (AFZ) has reported a rise in cancer cases among individuals with albinism in the country.
AFZ Board Chairperson, John Chiti, attributes this increase to the extreme weather conditions exacerbated by climate change.
He explained that the current hot weather has worsened the situation, particularly for people with albinism, who are more vulnerable to the harmful effects of ultraviolet radiation.
Mr. Chiti, who also serves as the Commissioner for the Teaching Service Commission, stated that while precise statistics from the cancer hospital at the University Teaching Hospitals are not yet available, there has been a significant rise in both skin cancer cases and fatalities among people with albinism.
He shared these concerns yesterday in Chipata during an ongoing training session aimed at improving access to justice for individuals with albinism.
The training involves various stakeholders, including law enforcement, traditional leaders, the media and the judiciary.
In addition to the health challenges, Mr. Chiti is concerned over the persistent attacks on people with albinism in the Eastern Province.
He hopes the training will provide solutions to the issues faced by this vulnerable community.
People with albinism are more susceptible to the harmful effects of ultraviolet radiation due to the lack of melanin.
Wishing you peace, strength, and brighter days this Christmas and the New Year.
