CHINGOLA ANTI-ROBBERY SQUARD THWART SUSPECTED ROBBERERS

The Anti Robery Squad in Chingola have apprehended 4 suspected Robbers at Mwaiseni area.
Copperbelt Province Police Commanding Officer Peacewel Mweemba who disclosed the incident to RISE FM NEWS has identified the suspects as Obin Katongo 21 of Chimwemwe Township in Kitwe, Mwape Kunda aged 22 of Parklands Kitwe Golden Musonda aged 20 of Chimwemwe Kitwe and Clever Shakapanga aged 21 of Chimwemwe Township in Kitwe.
Mr Mweemba says the office of District intelligence received a report from a concerned citizen that un registered Black Toyota Mark X was seen parked near Musunshya Hotel at Mwaiseni Market and that it had parked at the said location for a long time without the occupants disembarking.
He stated that the occupants were also seen to be changing clothing and wearing masks.
He says a verification patrol was conducted and later Anti-Robbery Squad was engaged and managed to apprehend 04 suspects.
The Commissioner says upon searching the vehicle, the Anti Robery Squad found 1 knife, 1 Pepper spray, 2 screwdrivers, 1Teaser, 1 Pistol toy gun, 1 mask and 2 vehicle registration number plates bearing Registration number BCF 5459ZM.
He adds that the four suspects have been detained at different police stations in Chingola to prevent them from interacting.
Investigations have since been instituted into the matter.

CHINGOLA SMALL SCALE MINERS IN PROTEST DEMANDING ACCESS TO SENSELI OPEN PIT MINE

Some Small Scale Miners in Chingola were this morning protesting demanding for the reaopening of Senseli Open Pit Mine.
The Miners who gathered at the District Commissioners Office have stated that they do not have any formal employment and they depend on the pit for survival.
The miners said they do not understand why they are being denied access to the pit when Government promised them that operations will resume after the rainy season.
They said once operations resume, they will continue fending for their families as opposed indulging in criminal activities.
And Chingola District Administrative Officer Steven Monza said the leadership in the District will ensure that their issues are addressed as a meeting is being held to see the way forward.
